I have a Rheem 5 ton heat pump for the 1st floor & the same in a 3 ton for the 2nd floor, both stats work fine on A/C but the indoor blower runs continuously fan switch on auto . They are 3 years old & since I bought these new on the internet Honeywell won't do anything on replacing. We only use this for back-up heat, our primary is a wood fired boiler with in floor hydronic heating.
Were they always like this? If so from the beginning and the thermostat wiring is proven to be ok then it is conceivable that the thermostat is the cause of the issue since it is controlling the operation of the fan - in auto position fan should only turn on when the compressor runs.
If there is also a relay involved in the fan operation you might check to make sure that the relay is not stuck in the closed position, leaving the fan on at all times.
I would look to replace a relay that is not shutting off or replace the thermostat itself.
