You can still use original manufacturer's cartridges.

Testimonial: "May work with original cartridges but they are far too expensive and for locking me up. HP do not deserve mine or anyones future custom..... I will never buy anything from HP again..... Peter Kane."

Having trouble with printer accepting cartridge

Did you buy compatible toner cartridges? Perhaps one of them is defective and does not fit well.
Check where you put the cartridge in and verify nothing is bent. Also, make sure you are putting it in the correct direction.

If the toner is getting seated in the printer then you can just replace the smart chip on the toner with the old one which you have and this should work well. Try and do rate my solution.

I have a HP Photosmart C3180 that I bought in the US and now trying to install UK cartridges, but it tells me that the cartridge is incorrect. How do I re-set the printer to accept the UK cartridges?

The reason behind this is the regionalization capability of your product. The printer sets its region/zone after printing a few pages with a particular ink cartridge, once the region/zone is set, the printer would only recognize ink cartridges that are bought from the region/zone it's set to. You can click on the link to determine the compatible cartridges that you may use with your printer.

Only certain cartridges are compatible with your product. This document lists compatible cartridges by country/region. Use one of the following methods to check which cartridges are compatible with your product.Click on the link below for more information.

Installed updates now HP printer won't accept refilled ink

HP does not recommend refilling thier tanks, their print heads are built in to the cartridge so if you refilled it before resetting the tanks you will have to go to www.hp.com and run the trouble shooting tool for free to fix your issue. you may have to replace the catridge.
