Problem with Compaq IPAQ PSU

I have problem with Compaq IPAQ PSU P/N 218584-001 (sp.p.204045-001). PSU is not going on but input fuse (2A) is good and voltage on main capacitors (300V) is good too. PC with another PSU is o.k. I would like to repair this PSU. Do you have any solution this.

    i changed the voltage from 230 to 215 then the bang and the smoke will this have an effeck on memory because homework please help

Re-check the regulator. and i think the problem is in secondary. also check the resistor that supply 12-18V
on the regulator.

The fuse directly is broken when the power is on
The 5 leg black plastic chip part is a "VIPer100a" I have one with the same problem, but mine burned up pcb tracks and other parts.

As I understand it, the basic cradle that comes with the Compaq Ipaq 3870 does not charge. If I were you, I'd either seek out a charging cradle or google the instructions for modifying your cradle to charge. Good luck...

Try this, take the ipaq off the cradle, turn the ipaq off (if you can), restart the desktop, put the ipaq back in thc cradle, turn the ipaq on, and restart ROM update again.
