The 76 code is a code for the remote control. if you have a remote installed check for loose wiring or it could be a fried remote disconnect it and see if it runs then

I had a 40 gal. gas Bradford White water heater installed in a closet in the interior of my house. The old floor covering was deteriorated, so I had the installer put a piece of vinyl carpet runner on the...

It might make more sense to sit the heater on some inexpensive concrete blocks (like stepping stones, purchased at a local hardware store) to raise is off the floor. The heat is causing the cool moist air under your house to condense under the vinyl mat. You could shim it off the floor with most anything that is non combustible and as little as an inch would probably give you enough clearance to stop the problem. Hope this helps!

Hi, my insinkerator hot water dispenser is leaking from the bottom screw. It is a couple of years old. Moder SST

My unit is 3 1.2 tears old. It started to delay the flowing of hot water. Today I held the lever down until hot water came out but I noticed water leaking from inside the unit. I figured that the tank failed, and since it was over 3 years old I decided to open it up. What I found was that there is a plastic tube at the top of the unit that was very discolored and brittle which developed a crack. when I touched it it completely severed. I called the Insinkerator hotline at 1800-558-5700 and they told me that opening the unit voids the warranty. I said that it appears to be out of warranty and I needed just the plastic tube for repair. The per on on the phone said that as a one time courtesy that a new unit would be shipped to me free of charge and that I could install it myself or they will have a tech do it. I opted to do it myself. Hope this helps

I have whirlpool gas water heater sg1j5040t3nov. It is blinking 6 times which says upper sensor failure. Is this something we can fix. Please advise.

Called whirlpool and explained the problem. They said I need to replace that upper sensor and so they sent me a part in the mail which cost roughly $25. (usd) not including the overnight shipping which is around another $25 or so. This picture is what I received in the mail. Comes with directions of installment. _273.jpg

I have a Servi-star 40 Gal. electric SN# SS 0496B15258, How old is this unit? Thanks, Jim

There seem to be 2 possible answers: Servi-star vs Servistar

Answer #1: Servi-star by American
1st 2 digits are year, 2nd 2 digits are week

This means water heater was made year 2004, 96th week ....it seems wrong.

Answer #2: Servistar by Craftmaster
1st 2 digits are month, 2nd 2 digits are year

This would mean your water heater was made 4th month of 1996

Which answer is true? 6 years old or 14 years old
If tank had 12 year warranty and came with 2 anode rods, and you have good water, and no stray current on pipes, then tank can last 14 years.
If tank had 6 year warranty and came with one anode rod, and you have hard water and a water softener, and you never changed anode rod or drained tank, then 6 years is a long life for the tank.

GG40T06AVG01 my GE Hot Water Heater is only 4 years old and has lost the pilot light twice over the last 10 days. What is happening to casue this problem?

Problem can also be lack of air to the combustion area. Vacuum the area towards the bottom of the tank where the vent holes are. Also, I had a resident that had fans blowing out of her apartment windows this summer. We had the same problem with the pilot light and even replaced the thermocouple. Problem continued and even had CO in the home when the tank was firing. She was creating a back draft and pulling the exhaust gases into the apartment from the hotwater tank. It took time to figure it out.

The flue should NEVER go straight up. Go up one foot, put a 90 then another 1-2 feet into a tee with condensate (rain) removal then go straight up. Make sure there is enough combustion air. Instructions are in the manual.

I have an ideal standard he30 boiler instaled about 6 weeks ago. the boiler keeps losing presure about half a bar every 2 days if i dont top it up it will trip the fuse on the fuse board acording to the...

All the combis I've come across merely fail to fire if the pressure is not up. not only do they not fire, nothing else works including the pump and in any event the pump should not overheat just on low pressure.
water loss - try turning off the valves on the flow & return pipes [3/4 inch ones] 1 valve per pipe . This will isolate the rest of the system - rads etc Note pressure over a time period. In this mode the hot water circuit will still work but do NOT use the heating circuit
1/2 bar over 2 days is not serious but it should be found
Once you have either mended the leak in the rest of the system or found there is not one, insist on a replacement boiler
In any event having looked at the reasons given for the fuse blowing, I would definitely get a replacement.
These problems should not happen on a new boiler
I list Worcester.-Ariston-GlowWorm-Ideal- and many others who would confirm this

Code 1-11 shows up randomly and sometimes no water flow, reset and things are fine for days of use then it shows again. We spent time with tech support and have gone through corrections and no results....

Contact Paloma/Rheem customer (800-432-8373) support and ask them for the number of a local installer in your area. I had the same problem with my Paloma unit. The tech was able to diagnose the problem as the water control valve, and managed to get Rheem to pay for the cost of the part; labor was not covered because the unit was over three years old.
Hope this helps,

Hi, Bruce,

Check the required amperage on the data plate on your heater. 20 amps doesn't sound quite right. Test the electrodes for continuity. If one reads open, replace it. Also check your electrical connections where your house wiring connects to the heater. I recently had a heater that arced, and found that the tenant had spilled fabric softener, causing the wiring to short.
