What is a anti theft device? what is passlock?

You can't. It has an anti-theft device. The days of boosting a car with a couple of wires ended in the 1980s! You have to fix the problem, not find a way around it.

IS their a certain part on ignition switch that could be faulty ????? Rather then looking to replace parts that may not fix the problem ,take an have a scan tool hooked up an have code's in the BCM - body control module .Qualified repair shop. The BCM controls the anti-theft . Not to auto zone or pep boy's or advance etc. They can not read BCM code's .

Where did you try to by-pass at , with the 2000 ohm resistor ? Is the SECURITY light lit on the instrument cluster ? Probably has another problem other then the key . The anti-theft system in your vehicle can not be by-passed by using a resistor .

GM Passlock Security Fix

The security, antitheft or lock picture/icon is a visual indication that something in the car's antitheft system is failing. In most GM cars and trucks there is a hidden system that most people are unaware even exists. From the moment you put your key in the ignition, there begins a constant line of communication between your key's security chip or transponder, to the ignition's lock cylinder, and then to the car's TDM (Theft Deterrent Module). These 3 parts are in CONSTANT communication. If the key is in the ignition, then these parts are sending signals to each other. The security light illuminates when that signal gets broken, even just for a second. When the signal breaks, the car misinterprets this as an attempt at theft and goes into antitheft mode. The car thinks its being stolen or hotwired because it is not getting that signal from YOUR specific key. This is why the security light turns on and shuts down your vehicle. Starter switch is faulty. (not to be confused with the key switch), or The passlock sensor in the igniton lock cylinger may fail causing an anti-theft system fault and a no start condition

The anti theft is in the computer program. You may have to have it reflashed at the dealership.

YOU CANT BYPASS PASS KEY ANTI THEFT SECURITY SYSTEM.ITS PART OF THE PCM.IT WAS MADE WITH CAR.THATS WHY YOUR CAR NOT CRANKING.THE SECURITY THEFT SYSTEM SHUT DOWN FUEL SYSTEM.THE DEALERSHIP HAS TO FIX. IF YOUR IGNITION SWITCH KEY CYLINDER LOCK OR KEYS ALSO THE BCM FAULTY.THE DEALERSHIP HAS TO REPLACE FIX THEM AND REPROGRAM TO PCM IN ORDER FOR CAR TO CRANK.

CHECK TO SEE IF SECURITY LIGHT IS STAYING ON WHEN YOU TURN THE KEY TO RUN POSITION(NOT START) NORMAL OPERATION IS SECURITY/ANTI THEFT LIGHT ON FOR A FEW SECONDS THEN SHOULD GO OFF. IF ITS STAYING ON VEHICLE IS IN THEFT MODE WHICH WILL DISABLE THE FUEL INJECTORS BECAUSE CAR THINKS ITS GETTING STOLEN. MOST LIKELY CAUSE FOR THIS IS PASSLOCK SYSTEM(SENSOR IS LOCATED IN STEERING COLUMN)

the only way to get by this is to install a remote starter had the same problem with my grand am it worked no more problem.
