It may be interference from an electrical appliance, try turning appliances off one at a time to see which is faulty, ensure home unit is far away from other appliances
when you hear static you lines on your cellphone it maybe the time to replace your earpiece,
if you don't hear static lines when you use a headset then your earpiece is busted but if you still hear static lines while on your headset it means that something's on your surroundings that interrupts your signal it could mostly be a radio or a metal that could strongly blocks your radio wave.

There are two ways on how you can hear the caller. One is through the earpiece and one is through the phone's speaker.
Are you able to hear the caller but just not clear or with static sound? If yes, then you have a problem with the earpiece of your phone. You can test this by putting it to a speaker phone. If you can hear the caller clearly then you should have your earpiece check. Usually this problem is caused when the earpiece is often moisted or get wet. Try blowing a canned air on the earpiece.
Please let me know how this goes. Thank you for using FIxYa.
with the modem disconnected and the static is still there , indicates a problem service land line
ask your service provider for a line check because of the noise
most of the time it is the speaker which has the problem. or it could be a device interfering with the phone when u recieve a call. for example wireless internet or speakers
The cordless phones have a button to change the channels that are within the radio freq. range. I would change the channels until you get a clear/static free call.
Your phone must be away from other appliances (i.e. microwaves, radios) and computer equipment (i.e. wireless routers, monitors). The phone runs on 2.4GHz which often conflicts with them.
