Heater went on by itself. It was set for manual operation...??? Any ideas what's causing this. 1st time this has happened!

Filter pump was on auto and started @ the correct time but was still going after scheduled shutoff time and this alerted me that something was wrong. I suspect the pump kept running because the heater had tripped on.

Bad design, KIS keeps doing complete HD scans weekly when I told it to only do so manually. KIS is badly designed as is your equipment.

SOURCE: I have Jandy RS4 system with 4-button poolside

Pull the cover off the control panel. You will probably find a button which would be accessible from outside the panel with a paper clip or pencil but is unlabeled. On the board itself by the button, in small letters it should say "reset". Push the button and see what happens.

Check the condition of the heat exchanger. If it is heavily sooted from prior to adjusting gas pressure it will not vent properly. Check for downdrafting or blockage in the flue pipe if the heat exchanger is not sooted.

If the heat exchanger is sooted a good steam cleaning or even a trip to a car wash should remove enough soot for it to return to operating normally.

We bought two heaters right before Christmas and have returned both of them for replacements and the problem continues. The heater burns great for about three weeks then the wick starts to burn low and...

What you described, usually occurs when the heater runs out of kerosene or the wick is not turned up gradually, as it burns away from normal usage.

If what you described had only happened once, I would say, the wick may have been originally installed improperly by the manufacturer. But, for it to happen twice in such a short period of time, discounts that idea.

Back, before we went exclusively the selling gas heaters, gas fireplaces, gas logs, etc. We stocked, sold & serviced these heaters. They were very reliable and had only minimal problems with them. In those few cases that we did, the majority were caused by operator error ( they didn't read & follow the Owners Manual instructions) and were easily solved.

The only other thing that "may" be causing your problem is contaminated kerosene. In which case, buy your kerosene form a different supplier. And properly dispose of what you currently have.

Hope this helps solve your problem.

When my torpedo style kerosene heater is running, it burns the eyes.

Your problem is low pump pressure. This is most commonly due to a dirty exhaust air filter. This filter is located behind the plastic cover 0n the back of the pump. It will need to be replaced. It would be a good idea to get a filter kit which should include a fuel filter, air intake filter and lint filter. After installing the new filters you should notice a differance in the amount of heat that comes out as well. If the front of the heater doesn't glow orange after the heater runs for about 10 to 15 min. you may need to check the pump pressure. If the pressure specs. are not written on the side panel you may need to check operators manual or with the manufacturer for this information.

When I try to start my 03 sierra it struggles to fire up, like it is starving for gas, on my second attempt it fires up like normal. What causes this?

Have a look at the distributer cap and rotor button,if they have carbon build up or corrosion then replace them. Also listen for the fuel pump to stop before cranking the engine,if it starts better when you do this try a new fuel filter.

Whining noise when engaging 1st or reverse.

i had a nissan pickup that would whine in all gears except 4th...it started out with 1st then reverse then went to the rest...solution was new transmission...or rebuild cause the syncronizers or the gears them selves are being chewed up...the new transmission was cheaper then a rebuild. or take it to somewhere that will do free diag on the transmission.

I had the same problem. The heater did not work in heating mode. However it was OK in air-conditioning mode. The operation light and the timer light blink twice and then the operation light blinks for 5 times followed by few seconds non blinking, then the cycle repeats again. I have read on the internet that you better unplug the power cord and then plug it again so that the heater re-sets itself. My only problem was that my heater is directly plugged to the power with no visible plug. So I went to the main distribution board and put off the power for about 20 seconds for the whole home. HOORAY!! The heater worked after that.

Oil burner/waste oil heater not firing

Don't know what model Reznor Waste Oil heater you have but I happen to own a Reznor RA235. 235,000 BTU. If there is no oil being pumped up I would first check to see that the filter isn't clogged where the oil sucks up from the tank. There should be a gauge on yours with different color codes as to when the filter must be changed or cleaned. I already had to replace the pump on my Reznor RA235 as the pump went bad a couple of years ago. You can tell if it is pumping or not. There is also a filter built right outside of the pump on mine and one up on top of the unit that need to be cleaned at times. The manual shows all of this.
