I have just set up my Technics Amp with the turn table, and everything is working, except the sound. Some sound comes out of the speakers when the volume is up at the top, but it is very quiet. I haven't used it for a few years. Any ideas?
Do you use the phono input or do you have line output . If you have a line output it's possible that for example your technics has a very high impendance, but with technics amp do you use and which phono amp and you cleaned your needle very good ... Does it work good using a cd player .... it can be a lot, so you need to tell your whole system , cleaned the amp inside, especially the potentiometres??????. Gr richard
Thank you for taking the time to offer help, however by looking at the manual I managed to sort the problem myself. A small section said 'When output/input terminals not in use be sure to use shorting pins'. Couldn't find the shorting pins so I used a spare lead to connect the terminals. As it has been sat idle for a few years though I may take your advice and clean my 'potentiometres' (when I find out what they are!!). Thank you.

Helo you have to use speaker of the same wattage you have now chage crossover to get new clear digital soud
SOURCE: amp cuts out
The fan is ageing and putting noise on the protect line. Replace it or put a 100 uf cap across the fan at the plug. Beware polarity is marked wrong on p.c.b.
SOURCE: sound cuts when volume is turned up
check that power amplifier rating(how many watt)must be more than total speaker rating by 20% at least..
exampel:if speakers watts are 100 watt-amplifier watt must be 120 watt.

please bring a good contact cleaner from radio shack near you and apply the spray over the socket of the headphone(the place where you put your headphone jack)take headphone jack out and apply spray in and insert the jack in and out many times.-also check your system setup and confirm that all speaker are on- no mute button pressed-no cable is disconnected.

usually this would indicate a dry joint inside or some other temp related intermittent fault, component problem. Take it to a tech and tell them what happens
