SOURCE: whirlpool thin twin dryer starts and stops after 5 seconds

In the back of your thin twin dryer is a small white flat fuse attached with a screw, a clip, and two spade clips and wires. This is a thermal fuse and if tripped will cause your dryer to do nothing. Check with multimeter for continuity and replace if necessary. Also inside machine is a black tubular capacitor that will cause dryer to not run. Again, remove after properly discharging capacitor. Using multimeter check capacitor for continuity and potential. Obviously disconnect all power to machine before even thinking about repair. 240 volts will kill you dead.

SOURCE: How to remove the washer cycle selection/start-stop knob on a Whilpool Heavy Duty Thin Twin stacked washer dryer

I believe the selector knob on a Whirpool just has to be turned counter-clockwise with the selector pushed in. It will spin off the shaft and then the outer indicator dial will pull off. The shaft also has a keyed slot that will only allow the dial to be removed and installed one way, so there should be no question as to how it goes back on.

Was there a reason as to why you are removing the washer selector knob? If this is a simple matter of replacing a broken water temperature selector, you shouldn't have to remove any of the control knobs to gain access to the selector. The entire front panel comes off by removing the screws holding it in place. That way you can access the broken selector from behind the front panel much easier. Just remove the panel right above the washer top (under the dryer) and it should expose the front panel mounting screws. Remove these screws and the front panel comes off. Just make sure the unit is unplugged before you begin. I hope this helps you. Let me know if you need further assistance.

SOURCE: Whirlpool thin twin stacked, won't agitate or spin

whirlpool washers have a drive coupling in between the motor and the transmission to replace this remove the top and disconnect the lid switch set it aside remove the front panel then remove the 2 clips that hold the pump on then push it out of the way then remove the 2 screws that hold the motor clamps on and then remove the upper and lower motor clamps remove the motor then replace the three piece "motor coupling" one piece goes on the motor the other three pronged plastic piece goes on the transmission and the rubber isolator goes between them and now just put every thing back together

What is the process for replacing the drum bearings for my thin twin LT5000XSN2. Need step by step. Sounds like is about to fall apart. I am very good at fixing most things.

The problem is usually not the bearings at all but the felt guides on the front of the drum. The felt wears off and then makes lots of noise. You can access this part by removing the front along with the door. Listen close with the button in and door open to see if the noise is coming from the front or rear.

The barrell has come loose on my thin twin stackable washer/dryer

The struts, shocks, springs...they are called different things depending on who you speak to. Apparently on the heavy duty thin twin stackable units they are all bad and last for about 13 months just after the manufacturers warranty, this is common knowledge among Whirlpool technicians and even the replacement parts that are being installed are not performing for the lifetime they were designed. I have contacted a repair service and they are scheduled for the middle of next week and over the phone he ballparked the estimate at about $300.00.
