Whirlpool washers have a drive coupling in between the motor and the transmission to replace this remove the top and disconnect the lid switch set it aside remove the front panel then remove the 2 clips that hold the pump on then push it out of the way then remove the 2 screws that hold the motor clamps on and then remove the upper and lower motor clamps remove the motor then replace the three piece "motor coupling" one piece goes on the motor the other three pronged plastic piece goes on the transmission and the rubber isolator goes between them and now just put every thing back together

Whirlpool Thin Twin randomly skips agitation during the cycle.

Did you ever figure this out? Mine agitates but instead doesn't start spinning and draining unless I open the lid. It then "clicks" and starts but it is strange that I have to do this to get it to spin.

I have a electric whirlpool thin twin. It fills with water and agitates...then nothing. No drain, or spin.

check the lid switch, open the lid and on the right side you'll see a hole in the top panel, stick a screw driver in it,push down, you should hear a click,or close the lid and open it a couple of inches and close it,do this a few times,no clicking sound bad lid switch.

Whirlpool thin twin filled with water then stopped!

Not sure about the dryer but there are a couple things that could cause the no draining issue.
You could have a leak or block in your pressure hose. Basically there is a thin, clear tube inside the cabin that attaches to the tub on the lower right side. If this has a leak or is clogged then the washer has problems filling and draining.
The other possible problem is a broken lid switch. This is an easy fix. Basically, the mechanical mechanism that goes down when you close the lid does not work properly so when it comes time to drain, the washer actually thinks the lid is open.
For both of these you would need to open cabin. I posted instructions for that here:

My washer does not work

Sounds like you may have a lid switch problem. Without a model number, I really can give you a part number (Kenmore Stacks are made by two companies, Frigidaire and Whirlpool) or a way to get to it. It is right under the lid. Check the top and be sure that the plunger that goes into the hole isnt broke or missing. If you need further help, send me the model number (will start with 417 if its a Frigidaire or 110 if its a Whirlpool) and will try to get you a little more information. The job on either unit isnt that hard, and parts are pretty inexpensive. Let me know. Jim
