You do either of the following; refer to your instruction manual (if you still have it) and look for general output settings to turn off progressive scan, or you can try something much simpler.
On the front of the unit, without a disc inserted, and the drive selected as DVD, press and hold STOP button for 10 seconds (on the unit, not the remote), then release. This may revert progressive scan back to normal interlace for your TV, and thus turn progressive off.
This trick works for Goldstar, Samsung, some LG, Magnavox, and Zenith DVD players. Give it a try before referring to the manual.
Progressive scan video output would be available on Component Video terminals of dvd player so set connections between TV and dvd player via Component Video cable. Please intimate model and brand of product that you need instruction manual. Thanks.
That is most common problem of DVD player recorder, when getting old cannot read DVD discs, only video cd and audio cd,sometimes does'nt read video cd also. The problem is in inside of the unit the DVD processor is defected already or maybe the solder is crack, need to resolder again or reheat the processor solder, or that processor change with a new one,so the performance will back again, good as new.The lense of that unit is good,i can assure that.
we could go through the setting like, you can see the monitor. using the remote do the following steps: Step 1. press set up button. Step 2. press down arrow once. ( playback) Step 3. press OK. Step 4. press down arrow once. (video (selection)) Step 5. press OK. (progressive scan) Step 6. press OK, again. Step 7. press down arrow once. (progressive scan off) Step 8. press OK you have now turned progressive scan off.
With NO DISK in the DVD player PRESS PLAY, (display will say "no disk" or something similar) then PRESS STOP AND HOLD FOR 5-10 SECS.
Our DVD was stuck on Progressive Scan Mode for over 1 year, this fixed it. I had tried the press stop, press stop and hold while playing a movie, but not while there was no disk.
Try it & Good Luck!!!!!!!!
