When i try using prgressive scan it comes up error why and how can i get progressive scan to work

In order to use progressive scan you must have a progressive scan compatible tv. Check your users manual to find out if its compatible. If it is it should give instructions to turn on the progressive scan option for tv.

I have a HD TV with cable and a go video DVD/VHS player hooked up. I went to change the time and accidentally changed the setting on the DVD player from auto scan (I think) from off to on and now when I...

It sounds like you may have enabled the progressive scan output on your DVD-VHS combo. This is a correct setting if your TV support it. However most DVD players that support progressive scan will not support an interlaced signal and a progressive signal at the same time.

It would appear that you are using a composite type cable (3 RCA ends. 1 for video and 2 for audio) for this hook up. This means you have two choices.

#1 Look in the manual for the unit for the FACTORY Reset option. Its usually a combination of plugging the unit in while holding the power button or something similar to that. Without a model # I can't help any further with this option.

#2 Use a component video cable (3 RCA red/green/blue) to plug your DVD/VHS player into a compatible input on your HD TV. Your TV will pick up the progressive scan output from the unit and give you back your on screen display. At this point you can go back into the menu and disable progressive scan. And now just reverse the process to plug the DVD player back in using the composite cable.

It should be noted that if you have a progressive scan TV which HD TV's support you will get a better picture if you use the Component video cables instead of switching back to the composite cable. If you decide to use the component cables you will still need to run audio cables though.

Best of luck.

I need to know how to hook up DVD player with Cable TV I have the cable with the white yellow and red. I hook one end into the TV and one into the DVD player. I don't get a pic or sound. I do not havethe...

The key is having at least a Universal Remote ($10.00 or less) that will operate your brand of TV. Your TV is only looking at "stations". You need to make it see Aux-1, Aux-2, or Line In mode. BUT, another trick is to run the DVD into your VCR (if capable). Select the VCR proper "input mode" (Aux-1, Aux-2, or Line In mode) then the DVD will play through the VCR and it will play through the TV on either channel 3 or 4. Problem solved!

Split screen on DVD player

This sounds like a progressive scan issue (unit in P.Scan Mode) here is a C&P from the manual

Set "Alt Video Out"
Highlight "Alt Video Out", then press the RIGHT button to select
one of the following options:
• S-Video - Select this if you are using the S-Video OUT jack on
the rear panel to connect to a TV.
• Component - Select this if you are using the COMPONENT
VIDEO OUT jacks on the rear panel to connect to a
Progressive(480p) or Interlaced (480i) TV.
• See your TV owner's manual to determine what type of TV you
have.
- Interlace : Interlaced Scan mode will work.
- Progressive : Progressive Scan mode will work, and Video
and S-Video will not work.
• Press the Progressive button on the front panel if you have a
Progressive scan TV only. Otherwise, the picture will be
disturbed.
