SOURCE: My wife's kitchenaid classic 250 watt mixer wobbles on the base

It sounds like your mixer likes to take a beating, ive never dropped one and for good reason, they weigh quite a bit. first check to see if all the rubber legs on the bottom are still there. if they are the only possible solution to fix it after being bent or warped is to either re-shape the part using a tool strong enough to do the job, or to replace the parts needed. the hinge pin part number is 16910. is the base is bent the part number is 240151-1. If the lower portion of the mixer itself is bent or warped this is a serious problem and will require you to dissassemble the entire unit. part number for the lower gearcase is 240350-4 Please not that all the parts list are white in colour. hope this helps.

Thanks

SOURCE: How do I replace the Speed Control Knob on the K5 Kitchenaid Pro

Hi PETER, Happy New Year! Your Speed Control Knob can be replaced quite easily (OK, maybe with a little effort) by yourself, if you are a DITY type person, feel adventurous, and your mixer is not under warranty.
Before you start taking your mixer apart, be sure you have the Parts List manual on hand. If you're lacking one, you can download a PDF version from the KA website at: http://www.kitchenaid.com/flash.cmd?/#/page/home.
Click on Customer Care>Locate Manuals & Guides> Enter the 6 character model number, in your case use KSM50P (Your K5SS mixer falls within this manual), and select the first file KSM50P.pdf (438.31 KB) listed under Parts List (4) and then check to verify this matches your mixer model.
Your speed control assembly is attached to the bottom of the top part of the mixer’s head (or Illus. No 1, Gearcase Motor Housing, on pgs 4 & 5).
Turn to pages 6 & 7, titled: “Motor And Control Parts”, which provides an exploded view for the disassembly and reassembly of your mixers electrical components, along with all the parts. Locate lllus. Nos. 1, 2, 3, 4 - Pivot screw, Spring Washer, Switch Lever and Stud, and Control plate spring, respectively, which is the speed control handle assembly and Illus No. 5 and 6 - Speed Link & Cam and Flat Spring. Carefully inspect these parts to see if they have not come loose, particularly the Pivot Screw and Spring Washer. Also check to see if the Speed Link & Cam hasn’t shifted from its position. You should be able to see if something just needs to be tightened or if parts need to be replaced.
Also, with your mixer apart you can check for any other unseemly wear and tear on the gears, etc. It can be messy but quite gratifying to diagnose and repair your mixer yourself.
As far as parts go, here are five potential vendors in no particular order: RepairClinic.com; mendingshed.com; searspartsdirect.com; partstore.com; and Grainger.com. Prices can vary widely between vendors, so do your comparison shopping.
Finally, here are some links to several excellent websites that detail the disassembling/reassembly of a KA Mixer. The mixers displayed in the links may be different than your KA model, but the principles are the same.

Between these three websites and their excellent pictures and descriptions and your Parts List manual, you should now be able to completely disassemble and reassemble your mixer, should you decide to go that route.
If you feel this repair is beyond your capability, then I would seek out a local small appliance repair shop in your area. KA Customer Care can give you names of local KA authorized repair shops in your area, but you can also do an online search to supplement what KA may provide you. Call to explain your circumstances and find out their hourly rate and get an estimate of what they think it would cost to repair your mixer. Also, always obtain three or more estimates – do some comparison shopping.
Good Luck. I hope this helps. Howard, Burke, VA

SOURCE: KitchenAid Artisan KSM150BOB Stand Mixer won't start

It could be very easy. It maybe you have a the brush in the wrong way round or they have simply run out. They are on the sides under the black plastic caps. Although they will fit in the hole any one of 4 ways round, there is a key on one corner which means it will only go in one direction. Use a torch to look into the hole before you put it back in.
They shoud look like this : brush

SOURCE: My kitchenAid stand mixer is leaking oil. How do I

referring to:

http://shared.whirlpoolcorp.com/assets/pdfs/literature/Repair%20Part%20List%20-%204176924.pdf

You can see that there are 5 screws holding the upper and lower gearcase together. They pinch the gasket number 26 together and prevent the oil and grease from leaking. Remove the chrome ring by prying gently around the ring. You will see the 5 screw heads. Tighten them and the leaking will stop.

If it still leaks then you may have to replace the fiber washers number 29 which will involve disassembling the lower gear case.

SOURCE: Which is the better mixer of these old models: K5A

Hello ajlina,

All of these are great home use units, all the attachments are interchangeable between these. The difference between these mixers is the K5 is a 5 quart mixer and the K45 is a 4.5 quart mixer. As I own both of them they are great in the kitchen and have the same durability.

Have any more questions please post to this thread and I will be happy to assist. Thank you for using FixYa.

What model kitchenaid was made in december of 1973?

Is the brushed band around the head missing or worn off? The model is on that band. If it worn or missing in order to correctly answer your question I need more information. Is your mixer a tilt head or a bowl lift variety? Did you look on the bottom of the base for a serial number? Some models had them there. Can you describe the ceramic piece a little better? Many models shard the same internal parts and it might not be too difficult to locate that part.

My wife has a K5A mixer from the '70's that she loves. While I was checking the brushes, I over-tightened the brush cap and broke the threaded part it screws into. Can I get a new part?

The Brush holder caps / covers for the K5 series whether Hobart or Kitchenaid by Whirlpool (after 1986 when Whirlpool bought Kitchenaid from Hobart) will fit the K5-A they just wont be flush like the older Hobart caps. They come in black or white.

KitchenAid K5 Mixer Bowl Rocks Back & Forth

This may be explained with the bowl assembly. Being a bowl lift mixer, please follow the following steps to make sure the bowl is being secured before mixing:

There are the bowl-holding arms on the left and right hand side of the mixer. You will place the bowl on these arms, securing it onto the pegs.

Also, take your fingertips and press down firmly at the back of the bowl where it is resting against the base. You will hear an audible click as the bowl secures down into a spring latch mechanism on the stand mixer base, allowing the mixing bowl to sit flush and secure.

Are attachments for a KitchenAid K5 compatible with the K55?

That would be incorrect. If the attachment is for a hobart kitchenaid mixer then it will fit all models of kitchenaid mixers including the brand new pro series because the attachment port and drive gear has not been changes since 1925 or 6 when it was first introduce by the Hobart company.
