I need a dust extractor for a Elektra Beckum planer thicknesser can anyone tell me where to get one in australia

I have been told by a sales man last week that its a chip extractor and that my current dust extractor wont do as its collection drawer is too small.

Are you talking about the hood, you place onto and inside, you can make one from plywood and screw on a 100 mm dia PVC drain pipe connector and jubilee clip.for the hose.

The basket is cracked

On the bottom of the 'TOP PART WITH THE MOTOR AND BLADES" is a SAFETY SWITCH that must fit onto a small piece on the inside of the basket for the unit to run. If the basket is cracked and the small plastic piece does not match up the machine will not start.

Your options are:
1) Try to repair the basket to get the switch to line up
2) Go to the manufacture's web site to purchase a replacement basket.
3) Trash it all and buy a new unit.

I have no power

Assuming your problem is with a shredder you did not give enough information to answer the question. However, be sure the top part of the shredder is sitting on the bottom part correctly as there is a "SAFETY SWITCH" underneath the top part that must fit onto a piece on the basket, otherwise the shredder will not allow the blades to operate.

ROYAL 150 MX WILL ONLY TAKE 2 SHEETS

Have you ever "oiled" the machine.
ALL cross-cut shredders need to be oiled to help clear out the paper dust and debris generated during the shredding process.
Pour some shredder oil across the cutting shafts while it is running and occassionaly put some oil onto a sheet of paper as you shred it.

When trying to use the 160MX crosscut paper shredder, when you insert a piece of paper it starts to go in then stops. If you hit reverse the paper comes back and the edge is cut up. The motor sounds...

Try putting some "shredder" oil onto the cutting blades...they should be lubricated routinely and if they have never been oiled they just may be plugged up with paper dust and debris.

When we put paper in our shredder, even just 1 sheet, it sounds real sluggish like it's losing power, then it almost shuts off and the trouble light comes. It's plugged in. Is there a fuse or something...

Have you ever oiled the machine.?????
Cross cut shredders need to be lubricated due to the amounts of small paper and dust generated.
Get some "shredder oil" run the machine in reverse and pour some of the oil onto the cutting blades...then when you shred paper put some oil onto a sheet of paper prior to putting it in the shredder. How often do you oil it??? depends how much shredding you do.

ROYAL RL170MX Shredder won't shred

Did you ever put shredder oil onto the cutting blades?????
The blades can clog with paper dust and then it can't shred as many papges as it should or even jam completely...you should occasionally shred a sheet of paper with shredder oil poured onto the sheet.

Paper shredder

Shredders have a light emitter and detector inside the slot where you put the paper. When the paper is put in, the emitted light is reflected off the paper, detected, and then turns on the shredder by sending a signal to the control board. The emitter/detector often has a plastic cover which over time collects paper dust. The paper dust can reflect the emitted light back onto the detector, causing the shredder to remain on. You may need to remove the top of the shredder and remove the shredding mechanism to get to the light sensor. It's also possible that the components on the control board have changed value, causing the detector sensitivity to increase. This may result in the unit turning itself on in daytime and off at night.
