I have a Direct TV box and just bought a Direct TV remote with RF antenna. I have attempted to program the remote to work in RF mode, but for some reason it's not accepting the programming. The remote works to change the channel when you point it at the Direct TV reciever box, but not if you are around the corner in the bedroom. Please help

Thanks, that was one of the steps I tried. It still doesn't seem to be working. Like I said, it works if you point it directly at the TV, but still doesn't work around the corner... that is how what it is designed to do correct?

Connect the supplied anttena on the reciever. Once you have done that, then:

1. dtv symbol device
2. press and hold MUTE & SELECT for two blinks
3. enter 9 6 1
4. press CH UP
5. enter the last 6 digits of the Receiver ID #, found on a sticker in the access card compartment
6. press SELECT

Now the receiver will accept both IR and RF, but the directv device on the RC32RF remote will only emit RF signals. The av1, av2, and tv are all still IR only.

Exactly. They are not made to work around corners. The infared sensor on remote has to be in view of the sensor on tv or cable box,

How can i get local channels on my rca tru flat tv BD20TF10

The RCA BD20TF10 was manufactured before digital tuners (ATSC) were required. It only has an analog (NTSC) tuner so you will need a digital to analog converter box to watch most local channels. (These were the boxes available with the discount coupon as the ATSC broadcast transmitters were enabled.) Depending on the converter box model, use either the composite video input or use the RF antenna connection. If you use the RF output from the converter, you will need to set the TV to channel 3 or 4 (set the switch on the box to match). Then follow the directions for searching for channels with the converter box.

You may be able to find a low power analog station still broadcasting. However, you'd need to be close to the transmitter or have an antenna that is rated for a long-range signals. (Usually this will need to be an outdoor antenna with few obstructions between the transmitter and the antenna.) To scan for any available NTSC channels, make sure that the TV is set to TV mode. Then press Menu. Use the Up/Down arrows to highlight Channels and press OK. Select Auto Channel Search and press OK. You may need to confirm this step by highlighting the Start Search option and pressing OK. This will also let you add the appropriate channel for watching the signal from the converter box with the RF cable. The manual for this TV is available from Sears Parts Direct here: http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/user-manuals/BD20TF10-Rca-Parts-Television-Parts-manual . The direct link to the manual is http://c.searspartsdirect.com/mmh/pd_download/lis_pdf/OWNM/L0312126.pdf .

I hope this helps. I'm not sure if the Menu feature is available from the front panel buttons. You may need a remote with a matching code to do the channel scan.

Emerson Jumbo Universal Remote won't program Direct TV receiver.

Have you tried doing this:
Press and hold the TV button on the remote till all 4 buttons light up and flash(make sure your TV is on). Once they flash, press the power button, then using the channel up button, point the remote at the TV and keep pressing it till the TV turns off. When it does, press the # sign and that will lock in the new found code.

Hope that helps........

Akai VSG285 video - I can't tune any TV stations thru to the VCR?

This sounds like a hookup or programming problem.

The typical hookup is cable/satellite box output to VCR antenna/RF input, then VCR antenna/RF output to television input. Since you are able to watch pre-recorded tapes, the latter is already correct. There are other ways to connect, using the audio/video outputs of VCR to audio/video inputs of the TV. Older or low end TV sets may not have these connections.

If by chance you are using an outdoor antenna (not cable or satellite) then the antenna connects to VCR antenna/RF input and VCR output as above. You will also need to program the VCR into the stations- most late VCRs will scan for active channels, and program themselves to those channels.

I'm not sure of the capabilities of newer cable & sat boxes, but generally, you had to tune that box to the channel you wanted to record. The VCR is set to channel 3 or 4 depending on the output of the cable box.

Lastly, most VCRs of the last 10+ years require the remote to setup advanced functions, such as timed record, date & channel setup functions. The buttons on the VCR itself only do very basic functions, Stop/Play/Rewind/F-forward/Eject etc.

If you don't have the orig. remote, some universal remotes may be able to do advanced programming functions.
