How do I get the sump pump floater to work?

I have a unitech pro 1 hp sump pump. It works if I push the floater up but the floater doesn't seem to be working. It worked in the past. What can I do?

Is the floater on a dongle cord or does the floater slide up an down on a shaft? Are you saying the floater won't float? It seems if you can raise the floater up which contains the switch and it works, it should work when liquid makes the float rise. Is the sump placed low enough in the liquid to ensure the float will rise high enough to turn on?

SOURCE: sump pump not pumping water properly

If your pump is turning then something is stopping the water from being removed. If you can see the pump check to see if the water is becoming turbulent when the pump kicks on? If the water doesn't appear to move or is moving only a little then either the pump impeller is damaged or the screen that keeps debris from entering the pump is clogged.
If it's never been cleaned it is most likely just a clogged filter screen. Clean it and it should work fine. If however the screen is clear then it is either a blocked line or a bad pump. And yes a pump can still run and not pump, if the impeller is bad.

Well I know it a dirty job but someone has to did. Unhook the pump from the plumbing and take the pump out so you can see what fell into the sump pit and is lodged in the impellers.
If you have it out already turn the impiller backwords and see if that frees it up.

Install a foot valve (check valve) at the end of the suction line so that you don't have to prime it again. Install a level controller so that it will automatically switch on and off according to your predetermined high and low water levels.

Sump pump will not pump water, won' turn on, floater up

There are a few things that could cause this problem to come up. Pretty much all of them do require taking the sump pump apart a bit though. I would suggest having a professional come to help you if you don't have much experience with this kind of work. Hopefully you can get this resolved fairly quickly.

TO MUCH PRESSURE ON CK VALVE. DRILL A SMALL HOLE UNDER THE CK VALVE SO PUMP CAN START MOVING WATER AND IT CAN BUILD PRESSURE TO OVERCOME THE HEAD PRESSURE ON CK VALVE. AN 1/8" HOLE BELOW CK VALVE ON NIPPLE CONNECTING PUMP DISCHARGE TO CK VALVE, SO WHEN THE PUMP STARTS IT IS NOT PUSHING AGAINTS A STATIC HEAD. CAUTION: DONT DRILL HOLE SO THAT POINTS TOWARD FLOAT, KEEP IT LOW ENOUGH " UNDER WATER" SO THAT IT WONT SPRAY OUT OF PIT.

Need to rewire a sump pump

If sump pump is under water, I would buy new one.
There is no certain method to ensure that wiring is sealed, and that electricity will not flow live.

Product is warm at touch on top of unit. Not running

That usually means the rotor on the motor is locked. To check and possibly free it up, Turn pump over and find which socket fits the impeller nut. Try to turn nut either way. Once it spins freely , plug pump in and see if it works. If it still doesn't turn, you have a locked rotor.
