Front load washer will not spin

It sounds as if the tub bearing on your machine is faulty. To replace this bearing one needs to basically strip down the entire machine.
Not a job for a novice.

Hello. The noise you are hearing on spin is a failed basket support bearing. Depending on the model, you are looking at a cost of a professional to repair it of around $400+. If you do it yourself, around $200. This is a common failure on LG washers.

The door has to lock as a safety to allow the machine to run. There is a switch on most locks to tell the machine to power the motor.
I would guess the lock solenoid has failed, or something has happened to the latch for the door.

If you're hearing gears grind, you're looking gearcase (transmission) issues!!! How old is this unit? A new gearcase...you're looking well over $300!!!

We had the same problem. It was the door lock. In addition to the regular lock that prohibits you from opening the door while the machine is running, There is a "wax motor" lock. If this lock fails, it won't do the final spin. Think back to your top load washer, it wouldn't spin if you opened the top. The motor is a universal motor that is used on many front load washers. We found the answer by googling "front loader won't spin" - the wax motor costs $12. The wax motor is inside the door switch control. It opens up with a screw driver, be very gentle.

sounds like the motor spun a bearing. Usually this requires a motor replacement. when the bearing breaks down enough, the lube no longer keeps the bearing cool. Then the friction just mounts up and makes alot of noise. after the heat from forcing a broken bearing the motor then overheats and then fails. after letting it cool it might reset itself but only to pop again because the bearing just gets worse until it locks up and becomes heat welded.
so there. I'd say motor replacement since the bearings and motor are all one unit.

Sounds like the clutch is malfunctioning. Not an easy DIY job -- probably need a service call.

Is this a front loading machine? Also whats the model number when you open the door? If this is a front loading machine and you haven't been using HE soap, it's almost certain it's the brearing.

Comes apart from the front. 2 screws on front of control psnel; flip it up. 2 clips to pry out; also ulplug lid switch. Cabinet lifts up from back and comes right off. Hope this helps!
