If you have 3 flashing red segments in the circle you just got the RROD. Your system's motherboard was fried. IT WAS NOT YOUR FAULT. It was xbox's and you have been playing a ticking time bomb. Usually Xbox will always replace it for you pro-bono with a fixed version. What sucks is no more live or games for 2-3 months.

The green light is on but no picture no sound

You could always try a system reset:

Starting with the PS3 off... Hold Power button on PS3 for 10 seconds. When you hear the second beep, it has been reset.

Your PS3 may not be in HD mode. When you turn on your PS3 hold down the button until you hear a series of beeps. This will switch the PS3 to work with your HDMI. Now turn off and turn on the PS3 normally and you should have video.

I may be wring on the steps so check your manual or reference:

I can hear my Ps3's Sound, when the HDMI cables are connected, and it's on the correct HDMI channel, though i can't see anything, the screen is just black. I have tried holding the power down, until i...

Ok, you are actually holding the power button down for too long. Please do the following to sort out the display on your PS3.

Turn the PS3 off into standby (red light on)

Press and hold the power button. It will beep once when you first press it, then beep again about 5 seconds later. Release the power button when you hear the second beep. The display will now reset and it should detect your HDMI display with no problem.

Hope this helps

All the connections work the ps3 comes on but then goes black

You may have messed up the Screen-Settings, to solve this try this.

Step 1: Turn off the PLAYSTATION 3 by holding the Power button on the front of the unit till the Power light is red.

Step 2:
  1. Touch and hold the Power button, you will hear the first beep, meaning the PLAYSTATION 3 is powering on.
  2. Continue to hold the Power button and after about 5 seconds, you will hear a second beep, indicating the video reset.
  3. Continue to hold the Power button and after about another 5 seconds you will hear a third beep and the system will power off (Power light is red).

Step 3:
  1. Touch and hold the Power button, you will hear the first beep, again for the PLAYSTATION 3 to power on.
  2. Continue to hold the Power button and after about 5 seconds, you will hear a second beep for video reset.
  3. Continue to hold the Power button and after about another 5 seconds you will hear a quick double beep. At that point release the Power button. If you succeeded in activating Safe Mode, you will see a message on the screen saying, "Connect the controller using a USB cable and then press the PS button."
  4. Connect a USB cable to the controller and the PLAYSTATION 3 and press the PS button to enter Safe Mode.
  5. Then you will see the Safe Mode menu.

Step 4
: We recommending performing the safe mode options in the following order until one of the options works for you. If one of the options work, do not continue onto the other options.
  1. Restore Default Settings
  2. Restore File System
  3. Rebuild Database
  4. Restore PS3 System (This will wipe your harddrive, so remember to backup savegames.)

Starting up Problems

I found it 2 min. ago. Ok here: while your ps3 is on hold the power button on the ps3 for you will hear one beep, keep holding it then when you hear the second beep take your finger off. Your ps3 should turn off. Now push the power button while holding your finger on it again, you will hear two single beeps, then a double beep, let your finger ago and a screen should appear with six options. Chose something like reset(or restore) file data or something like that and click yes, this wont do anything to your game/music/movie/etc. files but now your ps3 shall work.

Black screen have tried changing outputs but still black screen.

check for loose video connectors, power cables (of your monitor). Also try to turn off your computer by pressing and holding the power button. (you know your computer is off if it doesn't make any sound or vibration)
if all else fails, power up your computer and listen for a tone/beep sound. If there is a long beep sound probably your memory (RAM) is loose, defective or faulty. If you hear a tone/beep in a patern (like long-short-long, or any other pattern) then probably your VIDEO CARD is loose, defective or faulty.
