Recently bought tv for elderly parent, who is having difficulty hearing tv. Volume is not loud enough as was in previous older model tv. Is this a problem with LCD's and are additional speakers necessary?

Some models are just that way. I would invest in a small surround sound system for them.

Is there a way to set a lower maximum volume? We have an elderly, mentally ill man living in our house, and he frequently maxes out the TV volume while others are trying to sleep.

you can put child lock password on the tv for volume control .. that should help. but an elderly person might not be able to hear properly then.

dont mind this advise ..but a pair of bluetooth headphones may work.

Increase the volume on my Cubit bobby?

You can simply dial any number and press the Volume Up button to increase your hearing piece volume. If that doesn't work, you should go to a service point to replace your phone's earpiece.

Thank you...

Just bought E420VL 42" LCD

Go into menu, sound set-up, and switch SRS to off. It's a vizio thing they came up with to act like "Smart Sound" where commercials won't be louder. It is total BS and does not work, it makes your normal sound fluctuate. Worked on all 3 of my Vizios. Hope it helps you.

Samsung le40r74bd problem

I just had this problem with my 3 year old 32" Samsung LCD. The volume would go up and down by itself, normally just constantly going up even when it reached 100%.

I thought it might have something to do with the volume buttons on the TV itself so seeing as it was out of warranty anyway I decided to unplug it and open it up.

I gave it a good clean and I disconnected the cable for the panel of buttons on the LCD itself (volume, menu, channel etc) seeing as I never use them anyway. I then put everything else back together and tested.

It seems to be working fine now. Previously (for the past 3 hours) ever time I turned it on the volume level would come on instantly and stay on until I turned the TV off. So I’m quietly confident the problem has been fixed. But I must admit it’s only been 10 minutes, so who knows, it might come back.

Lg 47 inch tv sound

We had the same problem of pathetic sound quality and volume with a sony brava. Thats just the way they make tv's these days because most people buy a surround sound system as well. We bought logitec computer surround sound speakers for about $140 and plugged into the ear jack, problem solved, we have heaps of volume and stacks of bass.
