SOURCE: Lines 4 and 5 in use.

One of the annoying features of a Norstar is the auto hold. If you switch from line to line, you put the calls on auto hold. It doesn't take much to conference two lines together and drop out of the call. Now you're at the mercy of the Central Office as to whether it sends a disconnect to drop the lines.

Two bad things that we advise customers to unplug the system is when they have mystery lines tied together and/or external paging tied up. That drops all current connections and lets you start again.

SOURCE: M7310 - 3 phone set system - line 3 on one set does no ring tone

Feature * 6 is for the ring tone of the set, it doesn't change the cadence (ring tone) on a line...

The only way to change the ring tone on a line... it would require everyone that has that number to change.

You need to go into the programming
-> look for LINE and enter
-> put in 003 for line 3 and enter
-> under TRUNK/LINE DATA find DISTINCT RING and change
-> REL to end programming...

Now that line 3 will ring differently. But it will ring differently on everyone's sets that has line 3 on their phone

SOURCE: Line 5 doesn't ring on one phone

That is done thru config programming, you need to add line 5, appearance and ring to station. This will automatically put the line on your next line button.

f** config

SOURCE: My Meridian M7310 phone system is unable to

Either the line from the telephone company is out or the line port in the line card is defective. The easiest way to determine if its one or the other is to report the line trouble to the telephone company. they'll check the line up to where it comes into the building, and if theres a problem on thier side they'll get it back in service. If the report the line is good to the building, then you'll need to call your telephone system service technician.

How do I reprogram the phone to ring when a new call comes in, default to a certain line, and show caller id when a call comes in.

The answer to the Caller ID question:
Depend on the type of system that the phone is connected to. Late model Partner ACS equipment will display Caller ID info between the first and second rings, provided that the telephone line is plugged into a module that supports Caller ID.

The answers for the other 2 questions are taken directly out of the Partner ACS Programming Guide which is available for free download at Avaya's website.

Ther answer to the incoming call line ringing question:
Again, depends on the system. For the Partner ACS:

1) Press FEATURE 00 at extension 10 or 11.
2) Enter the number of the extension to be programmed for Line Ringing.

The green lights next to the line or pool buttons show the current Line Ringing settings for all

lines or pools assigned to the extension. (If a line or pool is not assigned to a button, the green

light next to that button is off.) The following ringing options can be shown by the green light

next to the line or pool button:

? Immediate Ring - on steady

? Delayed Ring - flashes slowly
? No Ring - flutters quickly

3) Press the line or pool button until the button light shows the correct setting (the setting for the
currently selected line or pool also appears on the display).
4) Continue programming, or exit programming mode.

Line selection:

For incoming calls, the line selection (hunt sequence) is set by the local service provider). For outgoing calls....again....it depends on the system. For the Partner ACS:

1) Press FEAURE 00, SYSTEM PROG, SYSTEM PROG, CENTRAL PROG at extension 10 or 11.
2) Enter the number of the extension to be programmed for Automatic Line Selection.
3) Press **.
4) Press the line, pool, or INTERCOM buttons in the desired order. The valid entries for Automatic
Line Selection
depend upon the type of extension:

? Key Extension: Outside system lines, Left Intercom (the factory setting)

? Pooled Extension: Pool 880 button 1, button 2, Left Intercom, Right Intercom (the factory

setting), Pools 881-883, individual lines

For each button pressed, a display similar to the following appears:

Automatic Line Selection

5) To exit Automatic Line Selection, press **.
6) Press CENTRAL PROG and enter a new extension number, or exit programming mode.

Changing line ringing and line selection are tasks that are normally reserved for the Administrator of the telephone system.

Our phone has 4 lines and about 5 phones but if you are on a phone call if another line line rings in the phone does actually ring so if you are not looking at the phone directly to see if any lines are...

You can do 2 things, set up call waiting by dialing ^7321 for outside calls and *7311 for intercom calls, and make sure the phone is programmed to ring as a member of an ICD group. Making the 5th digit 0 will cancel the feature.

Line 4 doesn't ring in coming call

The way 4 line phones work is that you need 4 lines on every jack that is connected to your phone.
You see the light probably because one of the phones has line conected and you see line appearance.

No issue, just a question. Looking at RCA 25425RE1 4 line business phone system. If all four lines are busy , will the caller of the 5th call get a busy signal or does the phone have "busy no answer...

ANY phone system will have this problem.

If 5 people call in, the first 4 will be answered, but the 5th will get busy, as there are no lines available into your phones voicemail system.

IF, you have voicemail through the phone company, you can get their voicemail feature for extra.

THEN, if 5 people call in, the first 4 go to the phones, and the fifth gets the voicemail greeting.

It would be dependant on the line provider how many calls their voicemail would handle at one time. SO if 500 people call in, 4 get through, and MAYBE 5 go to voicemail, the rest get busy.....

Group forwarding after a delay

In memory block 4-1 for the extension's port, The Lkey for the CO line is lit green for immediate ringing, red for delayed ringing, and off for no ringing.

In memory block 1-1-77 you enter the CO's delayed ringing timer in seconds.

I wouldn't try and deal with seperating into tenants.

What I would suggest is in 4-19 restrict outbound trunk access (corresponding Lkey for CO line is lit to restrict)
For example:
Stations 1-4 would not be allowed to dial out on CO lines 5-6
Stations 5-6 would not be allowed to dial out on CO lines 1-4

This way Company A is not tying up Company B's CO lines for outbound calls and vice-versa.

Down line connects

When you say "down lines" I assume you mean private lines also called direct lines from one office to another. These lines must have a dedicated device or assigned location at each end. You will not be able to multiplex these on top of what you all ready have assigned to local numbers. If your phone system has a KSU which feeds multiple devices, it's possible that it can be programed to to have a different ringing identity for these private lines. Sorry I couldn't provide any better information than that .Jer
