You need to disable the UPnP function on the Belkin router. Log into the router(192.168.2.1), and look under System Settings. If you haven't changed the password on the router, the default password is blank, i.e., no password.

How do i connect belkin n300 wireless router to motorola surfboard SB5101 cable modem?

The ISP modem (cable) connects to wireless (yellow port) PC and other devices connect to any port available on wireless. This is the standard setup.

Hi Currently i am using internet Type: Broadband provided by Local Cable operator Modem:Motorola SB5101i Connection type: PPPoE [with username/password] Using with: Dell inspiron15 Laptop Location:...

There is a configuration facility included with the modem that you should be able to access to help troubleshoot the connection.

The Cable Modem has three active interfaces, the HFC, the Ethernet and the USB and each
interface has both a MAC and an IP address associated with it. When operating normally it is the
IP address of the HFC interface that is used for diagnostic access to the modem. However the IP
address associated with the Ethernet interface is always available to the client side network,
unless it has been disabled by management command. This means that a PC on the client side
can access the WEB pages within the modem using the reserved address 192.168.100.1. This is
a non-routed address so it cannot be reached from the Internet (routed) side of the network
The SB5100 family of modems contain an internal DHCP server, which is active until the modem
registers with the CMTS. In the case of a problem that prevents the modem from completing its
registration, the modem can still give an IP address to the client PC to enable diagnostics access.
This address is given with a very short lease (around 10 seconds) so that as soon as the
registration does complete the client PC obtains its proper IP address from the core network
DHCP server.

I'm using an SB5101 and trying to use a new wireless router with this modem, but the set up is saying I have a static IP address... where can I find that on my computer whil I'm using my old router? thanks

I have one, after finding out how reliable and well-made they are. However, they can be picky during setup, especially since they have a rare 'config IP' address (the number you type into your internet browser's address bar to change the modem's settings). Click here >> 192.168.100.1
See this link for more info.

I cant get my motorola sb5101 surf board cable modem to connect to a belkin g wireless router. the light on the belkin flashes orange when i try to connect it to the modem but no internet connection

I have a similar problem. The common denominator seems to be the SB5101. I have a brand new Belkin Surf 300N, same issue. The modem will not give DHCP to the router. I can connect fine via ethernet to the modem directly.
This modem seems to be a dinosaur.

How to connect my motorola surfboard sb5101 cable modem ot my ps3

Hi turn both modem and PS3 off. Then connect the ethernet cable from the modem to the PS3 and then turn the PS3 first. Then after the PS3 is completely on, then turn the modem on so the PS3 will get the modem's IP adress.
I recommend you get a router and connect it to the modem and the PS3 to the router. It's way better. I hope this helps.

I have a Motorola SURFboard SB5101 Cable Modem a Netgear mr814v2 wireless router, I obtain the ip address on router status but for some reason my internet communication losed. I verified the configuration...

Hi, follow the steps below to configure MR814 with your motorola surfboard:

CONNECTIONS:

1. Connect a Ethernet cable from the modem to the WAN port of the router (isolated port).
2. Connect the computer to the router using any one of the 4 available ports. Please make sure that there is no direct connection between the modem and the computer (either using Ethernet cable or USB cable).
3. Power off the modem and the router after making the connections.
4. Power on the modem and wait for the lights, then power on the router.
RECONFIGURE:
1. Open the browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Safari).
2. Access the router, usually with http://192.168.0.1
3. Login to the router with the Username as "admin" and Password as "password" (please note that the Username and Password are case sensitive).
4. Click on 'Basic settings' from the left menu and select 'Use Computers MAC Address' from 'router MAC Address' section.
5. Click Apply.
6. Once it updates the settings then power off the modem and the router. Power on the modem and wait for the lights, then power on the router.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue.

Surfboard Cablemodem not communicating with Belkin Wireless Routr

If the modem is actually passing out DHCP, then you have to connect the modem to the router 4 port lan side and not the wan port. Give the router a static ip like 192.168.1.2 and you can talk to it and configure the wireless features.

Ip adress

go to the network connections page on your computer, then find your connection and right click it and move down to status... there should be a tab that says support... click it and you should see the ip address assigned to your modem by the ISP.
