You may need to take apart you PS2 and rotate the white gear about 1/8 of a turn or so and test with just the DVD lid on before you put it back together. If you still get the error try another 1/8 of a turn and so on. Detailed instructions and pictures can be found here on how to take apart your PS2 http://www.tweak3d.net/articles/ps2repair/4.shtml
Never eject disc while game is in use.
Delete all your messages.
If playing a game on disc, clean the disc off and ensure disc is inserted properly.
Upgrade your firmware to the latest version.
Under Game settings, set PS/PS2 Upscaler to Off.
Restart your Playstation 3 and try again.
If all else fails, the disc might be defective.
It's not asking for a specific disc, it's asking for a properly formatted PlayStation disc.
This message could mean that any one of several things has happened:
* You are trying to play a Japanese disc on a US PS2, or vice versa
* You are trying to play a game that has been copied onto a CD-R/DVD-R
* Your disc is scratched/dirty/otherwise unreadable
* Your disc isn't a format that the PS2 recognises (i.e. CD, DVD, PS CD-ROM, PS2 CD-ROM, PS2 DVD-ROM, etc)
* Your PS2 is broken
Try inserting the disc in your computer. If it reads its fine. Then look if the Slus...... is compatible.maybe thats why it doesn't play. your ps2 must have an old bios system even if slim.
Sounds like you need to get your money back ..the resurfaceing can also do more bad than good But a little trick lightly rub a crayon over the disk ,,old pantyhose works great rub it off from center out then try your disk ,,have saved many good games that way
Your PS2 lens is faulty or it is physically jammed in it's metal rod which stops the lens to move smoothy. you better open the PS2 console and observe it offline for jam. or replace the lens with a new one.
