Router locked. Cant remember the password.. User "root"

Hello, I'm not sure which type of wireless router that is but most router to log in have the same user and password for default.
User: admin
PW: admin
But first, you must be connected to the router via Wi-Fi or by LAN cable.
Follow these steps:
1. Make sure that you are connected to the router.
2. Find out what is your gateway, this is the IP address from the router. You can google by your router model or check the instructions, also most router have the IP address in the bottom of the router.
3. Open a web browser and type the router's IP address, click enter.
4. If everything is correct, a new window should be display prompting to input the user name and password, remember to try admin.
If admin doesn't work, then try:
User: root
PW: 1234

Hi, I have a LWG5400DSL router and don't remember the default username and password. admin,admin & admin,(Blank) & admin,password & root,root & root,(blank) & root,password & user,(blank) & user,password don't work.

Reset your router. there's usually a reset button at the back of most routers.
Hope that gives you an idea...

Press a restart button at the back of your router, hold it like that for 20 seconds, then go on your local web adres (LAN web adress example 192.168.1.1) and use one of those 3 combinations:

user name: admin
password: blank(empty!)

user name: admin
password: root

user name: admin
password: admin

The default user name is admin and so it the password you may need to hit the reset button on the back of the router and set the router back up.

You will need to check the wireless settings of the router.
Is there any computer online using the router.
check the IP address on that computer.
If yes then you can open the router set up page on that computer.
router set up page is the page where you can check all the router settings.

Are you by any chance using www.portforward.com ? Because I just checked it and all of the information you gave would appear to match it. If your not the owner of this router, or say your parents or your husband/wife etc. is normally in charge of the router, ask them the username and password.

If this is not the case, I would recommend resetting the router back to factory default by pressing the small round button on your router that says "reset". Afterwards the username and password should be brought back to the default values of username: "root" password : " " .

There is a wirless icon in the botom right corner of the screen right click it and say view all wirless networks. lock for the one you own say conect it might ask for a WEP password which is located on the botom of the router that is if you did not change it from the defult.

re-configure the your router

try this:

open up a web browser then type in one of the following addresses...just the numbers ie no "www." an ".com"

192.168.1.1 (this is probably it)
192.168.2.1
192.168.0.1

once you get to the routers page, just go into admin mode. You will be prompted for a user name(=admin) and a password(="password"). that should allow you to see what you have your password set as. Hope this helps.
