I have a Samsung SyncMaster 244T 24" LCD monitor when the resolution is set to the highest the screen is off the monitor. Cant run this bloody thing anything over 1280 x 1024 without it not displaying properly.. i.e the screen down not shrink to fit correctly, also it says my native res is 1024x768!?!? I assumed this would work well with my Nvidia GTS8800 (640Mb I think)?
If the monitor will match well with Nvidia GTS8800 graphic card, you need to consider two issue:
1) resolution match from windows display property and moniter manu same one.
2) refresh frequency match from windows display property-->advance-->monitor and monitor manu--> refresh frequency
if two side setting could be all matched that you can use normally
if two side setting could not be matched any above step that you can not use some resolution normally possible.
hope help you something fixed, please take a rating let me know how much helped you thanks! keep in touch your question
your rating is not fair, my solution is clear if your graphic card can not match 1280x1024 that is your problem, because your card resolution is 1980x1080,
please take a trating again,thanks
sorry add: your card has a bios chip that memorize the resolution list that wrote by factory, there is no such resolution to match.
i will check for you again..
you might not know
1) the host (your destop), the device ( your video card and monitor), they have the different clock generation their own, the video card has the bios chip onboard that should work with host for all apply by the driver, also the monitor has a bios chip on the control board that match all apply from video card by this bios code. what I say, if one of them is not 100% compatable others, the resolution might not be matched well.
2) the refresh frequency (I told last time) and phase-lock function can make the display refresh locked at integral multiple of that of computer display, avoiding the image to been torn, and ensuring the image to be perfect. The phase-lock synchronous range is from 47HZ to 76HZ. so it could make display stable at that resolutions
is there any wrong way for you?
yes, that is what I said, the monitor BIOS code might be lost or some unread, so sause it become no 100% compatable your video card. for repair issue it need update the code by factory code offered.
thanks your respond.

Frank are you referring to the refresh rate? its set at 60hertz
Frank, dont take this the wrong way but my monitors native resolution is supposed to be 1920 x 1200, I have the Asus 8800GTS Vid Card and a DVI-D cable..
I should be able to match all resolutions up to 1920 x 1200..
The problem is that my graphics card does not recognise the native res of the screen perhaps.. just not sure.. I have run it in 1600x1200 in the past with previous Nvidia drivers but had to 'force it' to do so under custom resolutions..
I cant find anything on Google searching and forum searching that leads to a solution.. I can only put it down to faulty screen or graphics card perhaps.. it has me buggered..
Thanks for the response,
1) it should* be compatible, have no idea how to find out if they are not..
2) I'm not sure if there is a wrong way for me.. I don't know how to check the things you have mentioned. I did try the screen plugged into another machine and we could force the screen to run the highest res, but only in VGA, not DVI.
I got the screen to work in 1600x1200 by forcing it through custom resolutions 1600x1200@60hz, progressive. I can force it to run 1920 x 1080 when enabling the HD (treat as HDTV). The graphics card still thinks the native resolution for the screen is 1024x768, so perhaps the chipset on the monitor is faulty (bios chip)?
end of the day this screen should run native 1920 x 1200..
