1) The solution to this question is, you will have to install the full-featured driver. Else you can uninstall and re-install the driver from a trusted website.

2) If you have installed the driver using the CD on your system then you will have to check for updates. To check if your printer driver should be updated, click the start button and choose the Device Manager option.

3) Locate the name of your device and right-click on it. Choose the Update driver option from the drop-down list. Wait until your driver is updated.

4) Similarly, from the Device Manager option, right-click the name of your device and choose the uninstall option. Open the browser on your system.

5) Download the driver that works with your system as well as the HP printer. Downloading the full-featured driver is recommended.

6) After the downloading process is complete, click on the setup file and choose Run option. Follow the steps that are given on the screen of your system to complete the installation.

7) Now, after finishing the above procedures, try performing the Scan function using your HP Envy 4524 printer.

then click on, drivers.
it runs on XP , vista,7,8 and 10 but you must tell it first
what OS you have then load that and run that.
if the printer was setup on another PC< you may of to reset the printer, to day1 state, as told to you in users manual there at HP.
