Locating a printwheel for IBM Wheelwriter 6

Where to I locate a printwheel for IBM Wheelwriter 6  re-order #1353502  Prestige Elite?

  • auntiemom Jul 10, 2008

I am also looking for a good, used printwheel for our Wheelwriter 6. Current printwheel we have is "Presenter" which is too big a size for items needing typed in a small space. Particularly interested in the "script" or anything in the 10-12 font range. Please call Donna at 760-568-2688 X101 (California) or email me at [email protected]. Thank you.

How do I change the size/font of the letters? Bold and underline too?

To change font and pitch, you need to buy a different printwheel. machines came with a prestige elite 12 printwheel. Prestige elite has small letters and 12 puts 12 charactors per inch. Letter gothic is larger size letters. Google search for ibm wheelwriter printwheel, also called a daisy wheel.

IBM Wheelwriter 6 key stricker is not moving, the print wheel turns but nothing prints.

Remove the P/W look for broken or bent spokes. If the cent sign will print you need a printwheel.

How do you change the font size on the ibm wheelwriter 3 typewriters?

The WW3 will type whatever printwheel is in the machine. If you want something different you will have to buy another printwheel. It says on the printwheel whether it is a 10 pitch or a 12 pitch.

Check in the area where the printwheel is installed for paper or other debris. If it does the same thing with the printwheel out then it is probably a printwheel sensor.

Ibm wheelwriter 3 prints unrecognizable characters

Sounds like you have tried all the easy stuff. I'll guess that the gear on the selection plate is loose from the shaft. No easy fix, you may be better off buying a replacement on ebay they get pretty cheap.

Changing Font Size

To change the font size you need to install a different printwheel. There are places on the internet where you can order one along with an owners manual just do a search for the make and model.

Printwheel Presentor

The Wheelwriters all take the same printwheels some WW3's won't do proportional space. The different part #'s may mean they have special symbols like double underscore, other than that they should work on a WW5.
