Apply some Oil or crease in it to lubricate it! it will surely work

the first thing to do is pull the brush and make sure the end caps spin freely. Clean hair and debris from under end caps if they can be removed. Install a new belt if it's been longer than 3 months since it has been replaced. Belts lose elasticity quickly even if you do not use the vacuum,

Be sure the brush roller spins freely. Tear apart the end caps and get the carpet string and hair out of it for better performance and longer belt life. Nothing much else it can be.

You have either broken the belt or more likely the clutch easiest is to replace cleaner head assembly £75ish or call Dyson and arrange a service if you're not DIY inclined but check belt !st

IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE A BROKEN BELT, THAT CONNECTS THE MOTOR TO THE ROTOR BRUSH.

With the vacuum plugged in and running, make sure the brush is spinning and that the brushes on it and long enough that they brush against your hand (or in real terms your carpet). If it is not spinning, replace the brush roll. This will also drastically increase the cleaning ability of it since the new roll will spin faster and the longer brushes will agitate your carpet better.

The part you refer to is not the HEPA filter. It's a very common misconception that that part spins - it looks like it when there's dust whirling around it. In fact, it does not spin - there are no visible moving parts.
