Floor attachment does not suction, no clog in the hose, hand held works when dettached from floor attachment
Rainbow vacuum is not suctioning. There is not a clog in the hose, the hand held works but when attaching the floor attachment the bottom unit that rolls across the floor and vacuums, has no suction.

Have you checked the floor head? Use a pipe cleaner or twisted metal to carefully and gently see what's in there. It sounds like dirt or something has definately sealed up the main suction channel.

clean the hoses and any part connecting the actual vacuume to the floor attachment.... probably clogged or not getting a good seal....if the motor sounds like its going faster (higher pitch) then its clogged up.....

The hose could be clogged. Check the suction on the main unit without any hoses connected. If that seems good, then connect a hose and check suction again at the end of hose. If suction is still good and you are having issues when using the power nozzle, then open up the bottom of the power nozzle to check for clog.

RainVac

www.rainvac.com

Check suction at intake without any hose connected. If that is good, then connect hose and check suction again. If that is poor, then you have a clog. If still good, then check power nozzle by getting into the belt area. RainVac www.rainvac.com 800-523-0510
It automatically switches over when you disconnect the hose from the power nozzle. No suction it getting to the power nozzle, so the suction is only through the attachments. If there is no suction through the hose, check for clogs in the hose and in the tank where the hose plugs in. Also, check the screen at the bottom of the tank. If there is a clog in the hose or tank, then there also will be no suction to the power nozzle.
Remove all clogs and you should get suction.
Check entire length of hose, including the piece in the power head, for clogs. Simply drop a marble in one end and allow it to roll out the other. If it doesn't, then the hose is clogged somewhere.
So I have exactly the opposite problem, it sucks in floor mode but the hand held has zero suction. My daughter and i just spent the last hour disassembling and diagnosing and found this: The way the suction tube is configured, you have two places to **** from, the floor and the hand held hose. If you look at the back of the machine, you can see the "y" where the two hoses join. just behind the beater bar there is a blast gate that closes when you stand the machine upright. This closes the blast gate and directs full sution to the hand hose. In floor mode as the handle tips back, a follower wheel and spring move the blast gate to open. THIS IS THE IMPORTANT PART...if the hose is not docked, there is a second place for the suction to go and you will get no suction at the floor. In my case, the center post where the spring mounts is broken and the blast gate flap does not close, so the hand hose gets no suction because it is like a straw with a hole in it, the air will seek the least resistance. In your case you either have not returned the hose to the docking port or your blast gate is stuck in the closed position. To check this remove the two screws and clamp that secure the lower hose to the suction manifold. Pull the hose stright an look inside to see if the blast gate is open or closed. Use the release pedal to cycle the machine between upright and floor mode and you should see the blast gate open and close. If you don't, well that's a whole other story. I'm off to see if I can find a replacement part at repairclinic.com. If not I will have to get some polyester epoxy and fix it myself.
Remove hose and turn on the unit with nothing on the intake - see if it helps - feel the suction with hand.
a) If it works fine without the hose - look for a clog in the hose, wand or the nozzle
b) If the suction is weak even without the hose: Clean the separator, If this is e-series or E2 Rainbow - remove HEPA and try vacuuming without it (sometimes it is too dirty so stops good airflow). New HEPAs HERE. If this is SE Rainbow - remove exhaust cap and if there is a sponge - take it out
There must be a clog in either the hose, dirt inland by the brush roll, or bad filters. If you have suction at the end of the hose, then look lower all the way to the brush roll.
