Fridigaire FDB510LCS3 Dishwasher not washing dishes

I bought the dishwasher in March and everything was fine until last month when I noticed it was no longer cleaning the dishes and the detergent was not even being distributed. During cycles it is not making the same noises, either. I am now hand washing my dishes and rinsing them in the dishwasher. We've checked for clogs or debris and not found any. Any ideas?

6 mnth. old Frigidaire does not drain does not dry.

  • Anonymous Jul 28, 2008

Yup. 18-month old Frigidaire and it's not cleaning. Dishes sometimes come out dirtier than they went in. Paid the vendor's service department (Randy's Appliance Service in Stouffville) to service it and it's still not working. Basically, he said it's the bottom of the line Frigidaire product and if it doesn't work, it doesn't work. There's nothing he can do about it. That advice cost me $74 but he did mention that it seems to be physically operating fine and we should use preheated water and change the detergent we use, but it's made no difference.

4 month old Frigidaire FDB510LCS3 that won't get through the rinse cycle. The dial won't move past one particular spot in the cycle.

I also have this model and mine isn't washing either. I can change the arms but what about the soap dispenser not releasing the soap?

Hi,

I have an older dishwasher also and recently my wife also complained about it not cleaning right... so me being the man I am tried in vain to clean the things... Bought new spray arms online and installed them in minutes...now the thing works like new... However I have also found that if the heating element goes bad then that also can mess things up bad... So I would buy new spray arms, and also check out the heating element to make sure it is working... Here is a tip that will help you with the online buying...

Newer dishwasher making dishes smell like sour milk

Ensure your outlet pipe rises above the sink level, if plumbed into your sink drain or drain pipe. This will avoid the possibility of syphoning action of foul water.

Please help! I just moved into a new house where the Frigidaire dishwasher worked great for 2 weeks. Now, it's leaving hard salt-like granules all over my dishes and not rinsing all the food off. ...

Your dishwasher has clogged water ports.
Start the dishwasher with NO dishes in it.
Once it starts the wash cycle, open the door and pour in 1 quart of WHITE vinegar and resume the wash cycle.
That should clear out the residue.
Change your dishwasher soap to the FINISH brand name for happy clean dishes.

White film and food particles on dishes

Did you check the incoming water quality, regarding hardness!

If your washing machine supports salt addition technique, fill the appropriate box and fill the salt that is meant for washing machines. Salt works as a softener.

Finally check your rinse aid also for it's fill in the dispenser meant for it

Dishwasher leaves behind gritty residue i am not sure of what to try...

We have a Kitchen Aid dishwasher, 10 years old, never any problems until 2 weeks ago, then we started noticing a gritty subtance on the dishes and glassware. We're on well service, psi 40-60. water hardness is 6 grains. small trace of sulphur, and we have a Mermaid sulphur system, then a complete house carbon filter, and finally a Culligan water softner. Checked everything, Water temp. at kitchen was 120, all cycles on dishwasher were operating. Called in repair service, he says something is breaking down in the dishwasher, best to buy a new one. That'll be $150.00. Thank you very much. Tried the white vinegar, no change. Next bought 2 bottles of Dishwaser Magic. Slight improvement. Next bought 1 bottle of Finish Dishwasher Cleaner. Bingo. The thing is like brand new. even the trays slide in/out much easier. None of the dishsoaps contain phosphate, which is what helps disolve the minerals in the water. I'm not sure what the gritty stuff is, maybe the buildup over time, and it just keeps getting redistributed through the wash and rinse cycles, and finally baked on in the dry cycle. According to a tech with many years repairing appliances, the majority of their calls are for dishwasher poor performance, all because they removed the one compound that's been cleaning our dishes for years, Phosphate. We've always used Cascade gel soap. best on the market today, Finish Quantum. We tried it and dishes look terrific. It's a small tablet that fits in the soap dispenser. All Mfg's. today recommend that you run a dishwasher cleaner once a year, Experienced tech recommends every 3 months maybe more if you're on hard water. Good luck.

Hi, We have a small CDI454-80 Candy Dishwasher. It is just 18 months old and has only been used around twenty to thirty times. It has recently started to leave a film on all the dishes after the wash is...

The problem is hard water. Go to www.dishwasherfilter.com. They have a new product out that solves this problem once and for all. It filters the water entering your dishwasher and removes the hard minerals that cause these spots. Very affordable and guaranteed to leave your dishes looking amazing every time.

Mold growing on dishes

Recommend that you run another cycle with no DW soap aded, waiting until the dishwasher has filled with hot water and begins to do the first wash cycle. Then add 1/2 cup of bleach to the water and close the door. Allow the cycle to finish. Run it normally with a standard load of dirty dishes. Note: These high efficiency dishwashers count on the "dirt" of the dirty dishes to help wash/clean the dishes. Recommend you not rinse/wash the dishes before you put them in the dishwasher.

Watch for any occurrence of the black dots and repeat the bleach treatment.

Does Not Drain ... We Don't even Use it

I know you're probably not needing this anymore, but for anyone else who has a similar problem...

Your dishwasher is installed wrong. You should never get water back into it from washing dishes in the sink. (of course - unless it is installed wrong) The "drain air gap" that you should see on top of your sink is to prevent water from back-flowing into your dishwasher. Sometimes plumbers put in a "stand pipe" (a pipe that goes way up in your sink cabinet underneath, but just is actually the pipe from the dishwasher and they loop it up higher than the bottom of the sink level in the cabinet. That way if you see water in your sink, most likely you can figure out why it is backed up before it gets higher than the stand pipe and goes into your dishwasher. Since you don't see the air gap device on top of the sink then I'm guessing whoever installed your dishwasher either put in a stand pipe and didn't put it up high enough, or more likely didn't put one in at all and therefore you are getting back-flow into the dishwasher.
