When you remove your sd cards in the new windows 7 update, the card reader removes itself from the list of connected devices on the computer. I have a windows 7 ;laptop with an sd card reader in it and it does the same thing. if it is still reading the cards with no problem, there is nothing to be worried about. it is like hooking up a flash drive to your computer, then it dissapears after you disconnect it. Still use the safely remove function on the windows pc. It helps keep the cards healthy so to speak.

SOURCE: MSI Wind Netbook sd card reader failure

For both an MSI Wind running Windows and Mac OSX 10.5.(4,5,6) do the following. Shut down the MSI Wind. Remove the power cord, any USB peripherals, and any SD cards in the slot. Remove the Battery Hold down the power key (with the battery removed for 2-5 seconds)  Release the Power Key Insert the Battery Insert the the Power Supply plug ((do not insert any USB or SD card yet)) Power on the Wind Now, insert the SD card-it should now show up on the desktop (in OSX). That should do it. Now insert any USB dongles/cables etc...
You have reset the PMU and bus start up. Any more Wind Questions?

SOURCE: Acer Aspire card reader not acknowledging SD card

go to Wal-Mart or K-Mart and such, you can get a SD reader/ writer (such as Targus, about $9 USD, what I use) and put your SD card into it, then plug into USB (USB 2.0 is current standard, but will work with USB 1.1, just slower). PC will ask if you want to play/record from/to the removable drive, select "take no action" then go to the "my computer" icon (or what ever you have named it) double click the drive letter for the flash/SD card (E,F,G etc.). open the file folder that you want to copy from <usually something like "100MEDIA" or such> (I STRONGLY recommend that you "COPY FILE(S)" and NOT "move file(s)" as that if something crashes you still HAVE the orig. files) select to copy to the correct drive letter/ file name(s) and PLEASE remember to "remove hardware safely" or you could KILL the files and/or the drive(s) that you were using. (did that TWICE before I realized what I was doing wrong). good luck!

How to calibrate Vtech Storio?

https://vtech.box.com/s/68ee102d30c31a7c5a4d

If your Storio displays a blank blue screen upon start up, please perform the below procedure to restore the Storio back to factory standard - please note this procedure requires the use of a blank SD memory card and some form of SD card reader (either a port on the PC or a USB SD reader)

•Please firstly download the SD Card Recovery Creator

•Insert your SD card into the SD reader port on your PC or via a USB SD card reader - this should appear as a removable disk under your computer menu

•Double click the Vtech Icon located in your downloads folder to run the program - Click Continue

•Click 'Make Recover Program Card' then click 'Next'

•From the drop down menu, select the removable disk drive allocated to the SD card (drive E shown for demonstration purposes, the actual drive allocated to your SD card may differ)

•The application will now format the SD card with the Storio factory default operating system

•When the following screen appears, remove the SD card and then re insert it into the SD port or reader to complete the format

•Once the format is complete the following confirmation will appear - please click OK and follow steps 1-5 to finish restoring your Storio to factory standard.

•Please note, once the process is complete, you will need to re run the program to 'revert' the SD card back to a usable state

Don't know how to download from PC to sony reader

I believe the Sony Reader only had one way to transfer files and that was via an SD card. You would have to take the SD card, put it into a SD card reader (will be a USB adapter with a slot for it). it will appear as a regular thumb drive to the computer. Then copy and paste the documents you want on it. Safely remove and put the SD card into the Sony Reader. Then reboot the device and find the files listed in your storage.

Please note the Sony Reader's are real picky about file formats so read the manual to make sure you have the files in a format you can use.

Pictures will not transfer to computer

The best way to download pictures to a computer is through an optional card reader then there is no problem with the computer not recognizing the camera or downloading the pictures. Using a card reader you would remove the Compact Flash card from your 10D and insert it into the card reader the computer would then recognize it as an external drive. Do not format the memory card in the computer always format in the camera. If you must use the camera as the reader make sure you have plenty of battery power in the camera to do the transfer then turn it off. Have the computer on and connect the USB cable to the computer and the mini USB to the camera. Turn on the camera and the computer depending on you operating system will ether place the camera memory card as a drive on the desk top or you may have to go into your system preferences. Most newer systems the HD icon will appear on the desk top. Which ever system you use make sure you click on the icon when you are finished downloading the images and "eject" the memory card, failing to do this will cause problems with lost files or corrupt the memory card. My Sandisk 2GB micro SD card will not re-format and hence remove corrupted files using the Windows format tool. Plus files will not delete at all, and just reappear!!! Is the card gone for good?

To be honest, once you're getting this kind of problem, the card can no longer use. You need to buy a new card.

However, I would suggest to try different things first:

1. If you're trying to reformat the card using the SD adapter or card reader, you may want to try to use different adapter or different card reader.

2. You may try different computer as well.

If the same problem occur, then there's no other option but to buy a new one.

Thank you and good luck!

What else is necessary besides the micro sd card to download pics from cell phone to computer? why big card and little card?

why big card and little card? well on cell phones they have gone smaller than 10 years ago, so the memory chips fro them has gone small to, if you have a memory card reader usually you will need to use a micro sd adapter so it will make the little one into standar SD size, and it will fit in any card reader machine even at walgreens, target, walmart etc.

in this case you don't need any special software.

if you try to connect the phone directly to the pc in most of the cases a DRIVER is needed for you phone work as a external mini harddrive !.
hope it isthe answer you are looking for.

Installation

To answer install question,I don't see a format option,so you pull the card out and put it in to install.

This phone uses a micro sd card, and most times they come with an adapter, the adapter is just a regular sd card, you need a usb sd card
reader, they are real cheap, Ill poat a great site to get one below.

I do not have this phone, but it depends on the operating system on your computer, if the card is in the phone and you have the plug
for the computer, and plug in the phone, your PC might see the sd card in the phone and it will list the phone as a drive, that is,your hard drive shows as C, so your phone could show as E,f, depends
on what you have for drives. Windows will either pop up a windows
that says, installed phone,or install driver, could not install phone.

This is a page of readers you can get to plug your sd card into your
PC.
