HP Pavilion ZD8000 Digital Media Reader Issue

When I insert a Lexar Proffesional SD card 2GB 133x it doesn't read it. The autoplay obviously doesn't start. It shows up in My Computer but with the name "Removable Disk". I remove the card and insert another SD 1GB SanDisk and this one works fine. I insert the 2GB Lexar in a card reader and works fine. I have 2 identical 2GB Lexar cards and they both don't work in the built-in digital media reader but work in USB reader.

My digital media reader will read a 1GB SD card but not a 2GB SD card. I have tried two different cards and neither will work. When I insert the 2GB card, the SD Formatter indicates that it is only 936MB. Is this a physical limitation of the reader, or is there a driver issue?

+1 , my lexar 2gb card will not show up . the blue light for the reader blinks then stops but nothing ever happens . some of the adapters for the 2gb micro sd work with the the same card reader but not all of them and never the micro sd hc cards. ive tried lexars site for drivers but found nothing card specific and hps' site only passes the buck by sending you to lexars' site . . .

Try updating you drivers for your digital media reader. Also check your dcos to see if the DMR will read a 2GB card

I have an zd8000 pavilion laptop and would like to know if it is possible to insert a 16GB SD memory card from my Panasonic Lumix LX3 camera, and if so where and how? Thx

Yes that model does have an SD reader built in according to its manufactor. From the images I seen on google it looks like the SD reader is on the right side of the laptop in front of the express slot. There most likely is a plastic insert that if u push it in will pop out. Its only a dust cover from the factory.

My memory card won't work in my camerakeeps telling me to format the Lexar 2GB card every time I insert it

Use the camera to format the SD card not your computer. There should be a menu option to format it.

I have a 4gb sandisk micro sdhc with adapter and the computer freezes when i have it in the sd drive.I have a hp pavilion a1 a1203w. Is there anything i can do?? Please Help

I had a similar problem not long ago. The SD and SDHC standards are different. SD only goes up to 2GB, and SDHC (high capacity) goes higher than 2GB. THe problem is that SD card readers aren't capable of reading SDHC cards, even though the card will physically fit into the card reader slot. When you insert an SDHC card into an SD card reader, the reader attempts to read the format, and locks up the OS while trying. You'll need to get an SDHC card reader and use it separately like through a USB port or something.

Memory cards

Your PC will be v unlikely to be able to read the HC cards. With a separate reader, via USB, you shouldn't have a problem, as long as the reader itself is HC ready.
You could use 2Gb cards and not worry about it of course!
The class designates the speed of the card, similar to the old method of 133x or 266x speed, the higher the class, the faster the card should be.

SD card reader

1) There is SD card reader on pavilion dv 1000, so you need adapter in which you insert mini SD card to make it SD
2) If you have that adapter, check adapter. Maybe it's broken.
3) If your card is biger, like 2GB or higher you may try updatenig drivers (I read on one web page: " There was a software update for support of reading and using higher memory SD cards, for my pavilion ZV5000, on the HP Software update website." )
