I have a Radio Shack Pro 97 Scanner that I received as a present 1-1/2 years ago. It was working just fine and then suddenly there was no squelch or volume. The keys make noise when pushed, but there is no sound for the squelch or volume. The scanner scans the frequencies but does not stop and play. I went on line and found that other people were having the same problems. I went back to the store that the unit was purchased from and received no help what so ever, they said it’ s off warranty and I was out of luck, nice way to do business??. I think that something that cost as much as this should not be junk after a short period of time. I hope you can help me with this problem I do like radio shack, but I can’t afford to buy items that don’t stand up.

the beep are known as "over beeps", they are generated at the end of a transmission by the transmitting raido to signal that the user has taken his or her finger off the transmit button and has ended transmission, like how they used to say "over". as for the hissing, have you tried adjusting the squelch?

All channels are locked out how do i un lock them
To remove the lockout from a channel, manually select the
channel and press L/OUT so LO changes to lo.

To review all locked out channels, press MAN. Then repeatedly

channels, press MAN.

My scanner is locked on..it wont scan..and it says l/o and p in left hand corner. can you help
First, check to see if you have frequencies programmed into the scanner. A "blank" channel will display 000.0000 and the l/o symbol. Programming a frequency will automatically remove the lockout from that channel.

If frequencies are already programmed, you will need to step through the channels using the MAN key and press the L/O key for each to release the lockout.

If the above steps don't work, you will need to RESET the scanner. To do this, power the scanner OFF, then power ON again while holding in the 2, 9 and MAN keys. This will erase all programmed data and return the scanner to its original factory settings.

Scanner is locked on bank 6, how do i unlock
Well first off, their are no "banks". this is a 10 channel scanner. Press the "Man" button to scroll through the 10 channels, or pres Man and buttons 1 to 10 (1+0) to move to that frequency. Buttons no work, press "LOCK".

I can not get any sound out of my radio shack pro 97 scanner I turn the volume all the way up and hear a light uzzin sound I have it on the weather channel and no sounds my scanner saids all channels...
Nothing's wrong. All of your frequencies have been deleted (pre-programmed PLUS anything you entered yourself).
You'll need to re-enter all of the frequencies to get it working again.

My scanner is stuck on ''all chanels locked out'' I don't know how this happened. I have tried resetting and iitializing but nothing is working.
If you reset and/or re-initialized the scanner, then you quite possibly have deleted the frequencies you had programmed in it. Can you see any frequencies showing when you have the scanner in manual mode? If so, try pressing the lockout button, which usually is marked with something like L/O. If L/O appears on the screen, then that channel is locked out. Press the L/O key again to unlock it.

The frequencies on my scanner are not coming in
while the weather channel is coming in hi LO (lockout) so that if its programmed into a regular scanning memory it will skip. If that dont work look for a lock button or keyboard lock and press that then scan.

BC245XLT trunk tracker II
Hello majorhart, I have never owned this model scanner, but by looking at the owners manual I see there is a keylock, which locks the keypad.

Trunking frequencies
Did you initialize your scanner? If you did, then you also deleted your trunking banks (1-9). These are the banks that store the channels that were inputted by you. The scanner will display "All channels locked out," when all of these banks are empty. You may have to put the frequencies in again. I suggest using win97. There is a 30day trial. This is the only program that I know of that will work with this scanner.

The pre-programmed channels should still be there. If you press and hold the scan button for a couple of seconds you should see the signal stalker running.
