Pro-95 dual trunktracking handheld scanner

I had my scanner programmed at Radio Shack(that is where this police/fire scanner comes from) and it has this annoying beeping sound when a frequency comes in. It also has this hissing sound. I had this problem couple years ago and some at a Radio Shack knew what to do and corrected it. Now I went to several Radio Shack and nobody know how to operate a scanner. It has to be something minor, but I've been trying and cannot solve the problem without locking out my primary city fire/police frequencies. It is mainly only on that channel that this beeping comes in during a transmission. Could you please help. Gloria Manchester, NH

The beep are known as "over beeps", they are generated at the end of a transmission by the transmitting raido to signal that the user has taken his or her finger off the transmit button and has ended transmission, like how they used to say "over". as for the hissing, have you tried adjusting the squelch?

Unit (Pro 95) will not scan trunk tracker stations at all. I have programmed this radio many times previously and it seems that the programming ROMs are misbehaving. The radio works fine in all modes...

go to page 23 of the manual (at "http://support.radioshack.com/manuals/ome20-525.pdf" if you don't have it) it has some cures that you can try there. good luck!

Pro-95 dual trunk-tracking handheld scanner from Radio Shack

Firstly make sure the "squelch" is set as per the manual (link below) page 26. http://support.radioshack.com/support_electronics/doc69/69487.pdf If that fails I suggest initializing the scanner to factory defaults as below:
