That sounds like the bulb in the screen is blown. I have changed them at times but it is very tricky and I'm pretty sure you won't find a reputable place to do it for you. Effectively in answer to your question the only rational solution is to change the LCD panel, it's not very difficult to do on the aspires, just a few screws and peel off the tape holding the screen connector in place, disconnect the inverter cables, (pink and white) and swop for the new panel. check ebay etc for a new LCD panel they're not that expensive. Try to get a new one instead of a second hand one. to find out what panel you need, you'll have to open the screen and look at the back, it'll have a paper sticker showing the model number.
Please try to replace your cold cathode fluorescent lamp or CCFL... I hope this will solve your problem,, It is located on both edge of your LCD screen... Good Day and I hope this would help...
I don't know. I've never actually replaced parts in a monitor. If the bulb is expensive, it might be best to buy a new monitor. They're cheap nowadays. Or you can check if there's warranty on the monitor and it can probably be fixed for free.
Defective CCFL backlight may has the following symptom:
Screen flashs on red/pink and off.
Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal.
Picture flickering with dim display.
Picture flickering on and off.
All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replacing the CCFL lamp
Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power it up, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight.
Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case. The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills. Check out www.lcdparts.net for parts, repair service and DIY info.
The same thing happened on my HP. I ended up buying a LCD screen off ebay. That corrected the problem. New screens cost $150+. You can get one off ebay for half the price.
Hi,
Generally in such cases , the screen is always at fault. The LCD lamp goes out and thats the reason the screen is dim. If the system is still under warranty get the same replaced.
The other thing you can do is to Reseat the LCD cable to the motherboard. if the same is not connected properly it can result in the same scenario.
And, a good afternoon to you! While this isn't a disassembly manual, it is an exploded diagram, and may be of some help. http://www.eserviceinfo.com/downloadsm/16546/Acer_Aspire%203000-3500-5000.html
