As soon as you switch on the laptop, keep on pressing F2 until it displays a message saying it is going into the SETUP then it will soon take you to the BIOS set up.

BIOS password problems I forgot my password. • If you forget your user password, you must ask the system administrator to reset your user password. • If you forget your HDD password, a Lenovo authorized servicer cannot reset your password or recover data from the hard disk. But in my own way of troubleshooting.
1. open your Lenovo G500
2. Check your motherboard and look for bios/cmos battery.
3. Remove the battery
4. Get flat screw driver then put it between two pins where the cmos battery attached.
5. Hold it for 10 to 15 sec.
6. Put the cmos battery back and the motherboard
7. Power it up and holla the bios setting has been reset to default.
When you start your computer. Hit the F8 key, and then a prompt will come up to boot in Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Networking, and Safe Mode in Command Prompt. Make your choice.
There are two methods to repair this.
1. Bootup to the system recovery option and select the startup repair option. If this doesn't work try the one below.
2. Bootup to the system recovery option and select the command prompt option. Type the command bootrec /fixboot
There is a variable (system setting) integrated into the Windows Update tab in the control panel that enables and disables notifications of automatic restart to complete the installation of system updates.
Near the power button there is a smaller button. Instead of power press this button and a menu will appear. You just have to choose BIOS Setup or Boot menu if you just want to change the boot order.
