Projection tv I saw a 46" projection tv on craig's list for free. The guy says that the thing will turn on most times, but other times it will come on and then turn off in 2 seconds. Any ideas? Is it worth picking up?
Oh, and I'm not sure of the model, just had to type something to proceed.

You've been trapped. A good friend indeed; who gave it to you. !!!!!!!!!!!
Give it up; man. Otherwise, you might have to sell your home to make this TV to get repaired. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

Well - three things. 1) Bring it in and pay for labor and parts 'new screen' 2) Call your home insurance person and check your pollicy for the clause of accidental damage. You just may get a check 'not for full amount' but enough to buy you another one. 3) live with the issue. Screen's not grass and it doesn't grow back or fix itself. You know what ! #4: Sell it on E-bay or Craigs list. Many of these TV's have power supply problems and your TV's power supplies are just fine. Just a thought! Blessings, A/V Media Guy
That means that you either need to buy a replacement remote (or use an universal remote) , or you need to replace the TV IR sensor, that is a small board located inside tv.
It seems these TV's are going bad right and left. I would look on Craig’s list for a cheap/free 55" Diamond TV. Not sure what you would do with the left over TV. I just picked up a 55" Diamond for free and hope to fix it. If I don’t get it to work, you can have the screen (California).
Likely to have a bad high voltage transformer: white square thing with large red wire coming out and possible horizontal output transistor maybe C5148: on metal heat sink behind transformer. Must use original transformer Average cost $300.00 according to which repairman. Be sure picture was good before it went out!
