My DVD/CD-RW drive isn't recognized/ doesn't play disks.

It may be bad. Has the laptop been damaged? Dropped? Open Device Manager, DVD/CD Rom drives, is it listed? In Start Menu, Computer, Is it listed? Try re installing the DVD rom driver, the MS Vista 32bit drivers can be found here: http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/04/Product/vostro-a860

(my internet explorer will be not start any vidio, and give warning, you need adobe flash player and flsh player be not install, thankks ) Meri internet pr koi vidio naheen chal raheen or adob flash player...

Hello, Arghumro -

To get Adobe Flashplayer (free), go to the Adobe home page:
http://www.adobe.com

Scroll down that page to the bottom. You should see the link to Adobe Flashplayer

Choose that, download it, and save it (temporarily) to your Downloads folder. Note: When you see a pop-up window with choices for your Adobe Flashplayer updates, choose the middle one - check for updates but you download and install them.

Once Flashplayer is downloaded. Check your Computer (Operating System) C drive. Open it and make sure you have a folder named Program Files or something like that. In the Program Files (open it), make sure you have a folder for Adobe [programs.] Open the Adobe [programs] folder and make sure you have a folder for Flashplayer.

Then, go to the Downloads folder and look for the Flashplayer download icon. Highlight that icon with a click or tap and choose to Cut it. Then move to your C drive, Computer, open it, open Program Files, open Adobe, open Flashplayer, and past the Flashplayer download there. You may see a window asking for approval to replace the old Flashplayer file with a new one. Yes - choose the replacement action.

Then, double click or tap on the new Flashplayer option so that the software update can be installed. This may seem like "forever," but it will probably be only a few minutes. A window will pop up displaying the installation process.

If all this seems confusing to you, you probably have a relative, neighbor, or good friend who is familiar with it all. Ask that person for one-on-one, in person direction.

Best wishes.

Xp installation problem

“No Hard Disk” error displayed on XP install (SATA drive versus ATA/IDE drive) The two most most popular types of hard drives in personal computers are ATA (also known as IDE hard drive) and SATA hard drives. Many newer computers have SATA hard drives installed, but your computer may have either an (older design) ATA/IDE hard drive or a (newer design) SATA hard drive installed.
After removing Vista, when you reboot your computer, a “No Hard Disk” error may be displayed if your computer has a SATA drive installed. To fix the “No Hard Disk” error, you may need configure your computer’s BIOS settings so that it can recognize the SATA drive installed in you computer. Reconfiguring your BIOS is typically not required if your computer has an ATA/IDE hard drives installed.

Step 1: Activate your computer’s BIOS menu. The first or second screen your computer displays on status may display which key (or keys) you must press to activate your computer’s BIOS menu. You can also look in the index of your computer’s manual for “BIOS” or you can try passing the [Del] or [F1] key when text is first displayed after powering on your computer.

Step 2: BIOS menus vary by computer, but there are seldom more than a few menu categories. Review the “Main” and “Advanced” menu categories to locate your hard drive setting. When you locate the hard drive setting, be sure to note the original drive setting in the bios so that you can restore the original drive setting if your new configuration doesn’t work.

Step 3: Change the drive setting to “IDE,” then save the BIOS settings (usually by pressing the [F10] function key then restart your computer.
If changing your BIOS hard drive setting to IDE doesn’t work, return to step one and restore the original hard drive setting

Print Shop 23 appears to install, but never finalizes

The fact that MS Net 1.1 framework is compatible with the 32-bit version of Vista - because I am using Print Shop 23 on my 32-bit version of Vista.

However, Print Shop 23 is not supported on the 64-bit version of Vista. and MS Net 1.1 framework is not compatible with the 64-bit version of Vista. So, I would guess that you are using a 64-bit version of Vista.

I have heard that one way to work around compatibility issues with MS Net 1.1 framework is to make sure you have the latest update installed for MS Net 1.1 framework. But, since I'm not sure that that is the only recommended fix for your problem, the best thing for you to do would probably be to click on this link

I brought a toshiba from the pawn shop and i tried to change from windows xp to windows vista how can i find a hard drive disk to install windows vista

You don't need to replace the Hard drive in the laptop, you can usually upgrade, or install vista from the CD-ROM / DVD-Rom.

If your laptop does not have a DVD drive to install vista, you may use file sharing to install it from another computer on the network. To do this follow these steps:

1) Place the Vista DVD in second computer
2) right-click on the DVD-drive that has the Vista DVD in it, and select " Share..."
3) You may need to press the "Advanced sharing" button to enable sharing, if so, do that, and just hit the " apply " button
4) OK out of all of those menues
5) on your laptop open " my computer" and click the " map network drive "
6) browse to the location of your drive on the other computer, and click " OK "
7) install Windows vista

If you do however need a new hard drive for your laptop, you can usually get them from any PC store such as Bestbuy, fry's, or online from places such as NewEGG.com, and Tigerdirect.com.

You will need to know what type of hard drive you have, and how to replace it. The manual for your laptop usually has this type of information.

SIDE NOTE:
When putting Vista on a laptop, be sure it meets the minimum requirements.
