Question about Emerson EWL20S5 20 in. EDTV-Ready LCD Television
IVE HAD THIS TV FOR NOT EVEN A YEAR AND JUST YESTERDAY I TURNED IT ON AND THE SOUND IS FINE BUT THE PICTURE IS SPLIT AND IT MOVES VERY SLOW, ANY SUGGESTIONS

I know exactly what a split screen means. It's bad news bro'. Means the panel is bad. You have to replace the whole tv. Same goes for lines on the screen. It seems a year is all you can expect out of these cheapies.

I have the same problem. I called them, answered a bunch of questions and was assured that there's nothing they can do. We're on our own. Bought at WalMart.

I've got a BIG clue just a moment ago..... I unplugged one of 3 inverter backlight cables (with it off of course) and fired it up. For a moment it worked perfect for the first time since I've had it in my repair shop in 6 months (side proj.) with only a dim top half of screen then soon shut off and restarted back the old way. This leads me to suspect a weak power supply (maybe weak caps) if I find exactly which caps are bad I will post later - hopefully a $2 fix if that - just the hunting for the bad one will take some time.....

Emerson/Funai and LCD . You get what you pay for . That is all the life built in to these cheapies. I've been in the repair business since 1975 and a good LCD if they make one will cost you about $45.00 per screen inch and make sure you always buy the extended warranty on ANY LCD made.

I called emerson once and bitched them out about this piece of crap tv that i have with the split screen now i cant find there phone number does any one know it.

Emerson Tech Support says that the display pcb is defective. The display pcb is not available separately from the display. The display is not available. Emerson has been replacing the complete tv if it is still on warranty. Jerry S

The Funai Corporation is a joke...My tv has the split screen also. I bought in Feb 07 May 07 it quit working 5 days after the 90 day warranty ran out. I brought to service center and they sent it back to Funai Corp to determine problem...TV needed to be replaced...I was sent a brand new tv (It took 4 months to get) and it did the same exact thing after 3 days...I call and wanted to return and get a refund. They told me on several occassion that they were sending me a return label. After 3 month of calling and waiting for label I was called and told I had to pay 45.00 to get tv picked up and service...I lost it.......I wasnt paying to get a tv picked up that was sent to me as a replacement and it broke 3 days later...I ended up contacting the better business bureau and also talking to my attorney about filing a small claim when I finally got a call to have the tv picked up by a service (like ups but not one I have ever heard of)..They picked up the tv and now I am waiting for a response on if I will get a refund or replacement tv...I already went out and bought another brand tv...I just want my money back but they wont just send me a check they can only do what is cost effective so I will get another crap tv and will break again I am sure........Wont buy another Emerson
