Trouble getting my router to go to wireless

Don't know what happened to my routers network name. can't get on line. It keeps saying no network connections found. I had a network name and then i didn't. I can get on line straight from my modum to my laptop with the cable wire but when I try to get on wireless with router it doesn't work. When I had my three month free service through netgear, they would take care of it but it kept happening then, now it's not covered and I am trying to figure out how to correct the problem without it happening over again. Model #WNR834B (netgear)

Have you tried connecting your PC to a different network port on the router, and a different patch cable?

If you have tried connecting your PC straight to the cable modem and it worked, most cable systems require that you power cycle the cable modem when reconnect it to the router.

If you are trying surf with a wireless connection, try removing and wireless security on the router temporarily and see if that resolves the issue. If it does, chance are Windows is using a different pass phrase than the router is.

A few things to look at:

1) On the front of the router, is the wireless LED lit up?
2) If it is not then it is either disabled or dead. Connect the router to your pc by cable and in a browser window enter 192.168.1.1.
3) At the login screen enter admin for the user and password for the password.
4) Once you are logged in, use the wizard to setup your wireless connection.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa

My router wlan is not blinking

What is the model number of your router.
Make sure that SSID broadcast is enabled on your router.

I think you need to check the wireless settings on your router.
Sometimes it happens that LED goes bad.

Open the setup page of the router.
Go to wireless section and check for the SSID broadcast. It must be enabled.
Try changing the wireless channel on the router.
If you see your wireless network name in the list of available networks then don't worry about WLAN light.

It says, " Type the

This is the identifying name for the network being serviced by the router. This name is established when the wireless network was set up. If you have not set up the router for wireless operation, you will need to go in as an administrator and set up the wireless network. This includes giving the network a name (SSID) (you decide what this will be).
If you need more help, let me know. I'll need to know the make and model of the router. Thanks.

How do I lock my Dell TruMobile 2300 wireless router to keep the neighbors from getting access to my wireless internet connection

press win key + r
under run type cmd
on the command prompt type ipconfig
not down your defaut gateway.
type it in your web browser, and then enter the correct user name and password for the router.(i u dont know the user name leave it blank or try admin for both user name and password or its combination o call dell for it)
Create a unique password on your router : Once you have logged into your router, the first thing you should do to secure your network is to change the default password* of the router to something more secure.
This will prevent others from accessing the router and you can easily maintain the security settings that you want. You can change the password from the Administration settings on your router’s settings page. The default values are generally admin / password.
Change your Network’s SSID name:
The SSID (or Wireless Network Name) of your Wireless Router is usually pre-defined as "default" or is set as the brand name of the router (e.g., linksys). Although this will not make your network inherently* more secure, changing the SSID name of your network is a good idea as it will make it more obvious for others to know which network they are connecting to.
This setting is usually under the basic wireless settings in your router’s settings page. Once this is set, you will always be sure that you are connecting to the correct Wireless network even if there are multiple wireless networks in your area. Don’t use your name, home address or other personal information in the SSID name.
This is sufficient to secure your router from other to use it.

Rating: 85%, 88 votes hi,
Open the router page 192.168.1.1 >> type this in the internet explorer address bar.
1. the Home Page is displayed. Click Wireless from the left menu
2.The settings to Wireless section of Router appear.Click Channel and SSID.
3.Changing the Wireless Network Name (SSID)
To identify your wireless network, a name called the SSID is used. The SSID is your network name. The default network name of the Router is Belkin N1 Wireless followed by six digits that are unique to your Router. Your network name will look something like Belkin_N1_Wireless_123456.
You can change this to anything you choose, or you can leave it unchanged. Keep in mind, if you decide to change your wireless network name, and there are other wireless networks operating in your area, your network name needs to be different from other wireless networks that may be operating in your area. To change the SSID, type in the SSID that you want to use in the SSID field and click Apply Changes.
The change is immediate. If you make a change to the SSID, your wireless-equipped computers may also need to be reconfigured to connect to your new network name. Refer to the documentation of your wireless network adapter for information on making this change.
4.Changing the Wireless Channel
There are a number of operating channels from which you can choose—in the United States, there are 11 and in the United Kingdom (and most of Europe), there are 13.
In a small number of other countries, there are other channel requirements. Your Router is configured to operate on the proper channels for the country in which you reside. The channel can be changed if needed. If there are other wireless networks operating in your area, your network should be set to operate on a channel that is different than the other wireless networks.
Select channel from Wireless Channel drop-down menu. Click Apply Changes.
5.Using the Wireless Mode Switch
This switch allows you to set the Router’s wireless modes. There are several modes. Note: Some modes may require firmware updates to be enabled.
1) 802.11g only
Setting the Router to this mode will allow only 802.11g-compliant devices to join the network, keeping out any slower 802.11b devices.
2) 802.11g & 802.11b
Setting the Router to this mode will let 802.11g- and 802.11b-compliant devices to join the network.
3) 802.11n & 802.11g
Setting the Router to this mode will allow N1/draft 802.11n- and 802.11g-compliant devices to join the network, keeping out any slower 802.11b devices.
4) 802.11n only
Setting the Router to this mode will allow only N1/draft 802.11n-compliant devices to join the network, keeping out 802.11g and 802.11b devices.
5) Off
This mode will turn OFF the Router’s access point, so no wireless devices can join the network. Turning off the wireless function of your Router is a great way to secure your network when you are away from home for a long period of time, or don’t want to use the wireless feature of the Router at a certain time.
Select wireless mode from Wireless Mode drop-down menu. Click Apply Changes.
6. Using the Broadcast SSID Feature
Note: This advanced feature should be employed by advanced users only. For security, you can choose not to broadcast your network’s SSID. Doing so will keep your network name hidden from computers that are scanning for the presence of wireless networks. To turn off the broadcast of the SSID, remove the check mark from the box next to Broadcast SSID, and then click Apply Changes.
The change is immediate. Each computer now needs to be set to connect to your specific SSID; an SSID of ANY will no longer be accepted. Refer to the documentation of your wireless network adapter for information on making this change
