Side by Side GE Frig not cooling

I Have a GE Side by Side frig ( TFX27ZPBE AA ) about 10 years old, that is not cooling or freezing, The fan is running but not getting cold. When I first turn it on the fan runs and the it sounds like a relay kicking in but I don't get the compressor coming on. Ant thoughts on where to start

The motherboard controls everything. I would check to see if the compressor is running. If not, the compressor or its starting components(relay,overload) or the motherboard could be bad. Motherboard failure is very common on this frig.

Our samsung frig is less than 1 year old and just started having freezing around the fan in the back of the frig. We have turn up the temperature and cleaned out the ice... Any other suggestions?

Probably the start relay and capacitor....

Burnt plastic smell coming from bottom of frig

This is a sign of a short and should be looked at immediately. A smell like that is a sign of something burning. I could be the start relay and start capacitor with overload. But I would not sleep with the possibility of a fire. I will look over your model and see if I can find what this could be, Sea Breeze

Our ge refrig runs constantly,freezer is freezing but the refrig is not cooling. I cleaned the dust and dirt out of the bottom and back of refrig.

See if the fan in side the frig is working It mite be on the freezer side If the fan is not working it will not blow the cold air in to the frig side

also check defrost timer,defrost thermostat. In most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board. If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control.

Bottom of frig freezes, top is 60 degrees

Check your door fit. The gasket should be tight all the way around, you can push the door back into shape.

i would take the back freezer panel off and see what kind of frost pattern your coils have.they may be frosted over and the begining of a defrost problem.
