The temp setting for the freezer impacts that temp in the refrigerator. What is the temp setting? How cold is the room that it is in.

Frig not working freezer is great

If your fridge is old you maybe have a leak, crack, blockage in the fridge part...or at first step check your temp controls ...should be knobs in freezer as well as in bottom of fridge...sounds simple but overlooked at times. If fridge is a n older model especially if its located in a hot room it takes alot of freon and at times they are not equipped to get cold in extreme hot storage temps.

Freezer too cold--refrigerator too warm

If the cold control is not adjusting the temp when you move it, that can be part of the problem.

Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board. If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control.
