We have a rca hd61lpw42, just replaced lamp. Now set come on but we have no picture or sound.It keeps showing unuseable siginal. We have checked the signal source and it is set right.We have cable.

The buzzing sound you hear is the spark gap on the ballast circuit. It's what fires the lamp at startup. Perfectly normal.

Just make sure that you purchase the entire module, not just the lamp. Also make sure that any glass is removed from the set. I have a tip at

Do not use after market lamps or cheap lamps as they will explode as yours did and do not last as long as OEM lamps. In some cases they will not even be compatable with the equipment. The old adage about you get what you pay for, is definitely true in this case.

it sounds like the lamp or fan. do you feel airflow? Unplug the set and wait. When you plug it up is the whinning imedate. the color wheel generally is the first thing to come on. If it dosent reach speed it will shut down

Ur high voltage FBT,is dead the block of plastic with a red wire with a cap hook to the CRT(tv tube).Might also have to replace the whole power board?Because just couple parts it hard to determins,what else also ready to burn next!

Ballast Board #261629 Ballast is what turns Lamp on, Also Check your Lamp Fan if it is defective Lamp will not Light!

I haven't worked on an RCA DLP but have on Samsung DLP, based on your description it sounds like the color wheel is bad. Take the back off and turn on TV make sure its not a fan making the noise ,but most likely its the "wheel" it is inside the light engine probably right next to where the lamp is plugged in. If the whine comes from this area definitely the wheel.

I would check to see if the lamp is actually comming on before anything else. The color wheel won't cause a loss of picture. Here is a link to purchase a suitable replacement lamp for the TV. Most likely your lamp needs to be replaced as that will cause the intr. picture issue. The color wheel will also have to be replaced. The color wheel is only available with the light engine which is part# 263223 and the lamp part #260962
