NI-MH D 14.4V 8000mAh Charger Hack. I need an alternative charger like charging on a car battery?

NI-MH batteries a re very different than car batteries and even tho voltage may be similar, you risk destroying your battery, camera or worse, an explosion. Your batter may only need a limited amount of amperage to charge (likely not much more than 1500ma or 1.5 amp) a car battery charger may put out twice or even ten times that much - hence the explosion risk! Also these kind of chargers detect when your battery is full and will quit charging or switch to a maintenance mode. I'm afraid you're pretty much stuck with using the charger meant for it.

Alternative battery charging

you cannot use any charger that is not used to charge ni-mh batteries car batteries charge at a rate of 5 amps minimum and if you do it will cause serious damage to the charger and batteries
if you want ideas , talk to a battery shop but unless it is designed to charge 14.4 volt ni-mh batteries-- forget it

Maybe your TPS has lost the stored values regarding Hz-Coll and V-Index.

You can try to determine these values with the on board calibration procedure. If You have no experience, I suggest You contact the nearest lab.

Cannot power on to take photos

I found that one has to use their batteries of at least 2100mAh and NI-MH. I recharged my batteries removed the new ordinary alkaline batteries I had put in and BINGO IT WORKED. Just to prove the point I put in another set of Alkaline batteries No good. It must be that NI-MH Batteries rated at 2100mAH have more power (or one can draw more currentat start up) a battery guru could maybe veryify my conclusions. Anyhow try NI-MH batteries and see how you go. Best of luck fredlich

Can't use chargeable batteries

If your camera doesn't work with NiMH, then it's most likely that you have either one or more bad atteries, or your camera is defective. p. 6 from the user guide: "..Ni-MH batteries left unused in storage for long periods can become ?deactivated?. Also, repeatedly charging Ni-MH batteries that are only partially discharged can cause them to suffer from the ?memory effect?. Ni-MH batteries that are ?deactivated? or affected by ?memory? suffer from the problem of only providing power for a short time after being charged. To prevent this problem, discharge and recharge them several times using the camera?s ?Discharging rechargeable batteries? function. By repeating this cycle several times, the temporary reduction in performance caused by ?memory? or ?deactivation? can be remedied and the batteries can be restored to their original performance levels. ..." Sorry i cant help you more..
