SOURCE: MVP Iv vm12ab-1 microwave

I have an MVP III Magic Chef microwave for the past twenty years. Every Function on the smartboard works except for the start button. We've been told that the smartboards for this model have been discontinued. I recently tried to find the part online and my search was not successful. Any ideas on how to proceed to get my microwave up and running again...

Used the microwave last night. Later I noticed no light display for the clock. Come to find out microwave lost all power. Model number smh9207st

If there are no fuses or circuit breakers, the unit could be down and out. Check you power box for any tripped breakers.

Is there a fuse location? light work timer runs commands are working but fan does not come on.

Normally a blown fuse will make the entire unit "dead".

But it of course depends on your model number.

EVERY PART OF THE MICROWAVE STOPPED WORKING

There is an internal fuse inside. Need to find the cause for it blowing or it will just go again. Check the monitor switch and door switches. Eric

Control Panel "clock Buttom" dead

Sounds like your keypad has failed, and on some models it's not available separately, so you have to buy the entire control panel assembly.

You have to remove the controller (see the video here) then unplug the keypad strip (see photo below) then move your circuit board to the new control panel assembly (part #
WB07X10798 if that's the right one for your model).

See exploded views
here. You can find this part for $101.91 here (compared to $163.50 from G.E.!).

Your issue is;
"we have a microwave modell MQ9998W, which is not responding, when we press start, it will not activate, clock counts, and light inside works, just will not start, I feel as though there is a fuse or something which is the problem. The unit is from 1990, if it is something simple i will try to fix , if not guess you know the alternative"

My Solution is:

Following this link, http://www.repairclinic.com/SmartSearch/SmartSearch.aspx, provides valuable D.I.Y. safety information on the make and model number of your appliance. In order to access your product information, you will need to enter the model number stamped on the manufacturers product information data tag, located on the unit.

Note: A volt-ohm meter is beneficial in performing electrical tests.

Thank you for providing a valid model number!

From your description, it sounds as if 1 or all of 3-4 door switches has failed. Using the link supplied above, you can view a page with these switches. The link below shows an exploded view of the service area. Using an ohm meter will help find the faulty switch.

Microwave Fuse keeps blowing

If it went dead almost immediately after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a shorted high-voltage capacitor.

If it went dead a few seconds after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a failing high-voltage transformer.

If you or someone you know decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel, which is very helpful when troubleshooting.

We're happy to help and we appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Microwave stopped working completely

Fan turned on after cooking because a thermostat got to hot and tripped turning on the fan to try to cool the unit.  The unit went completely dead when thermal fuse tripped which is located above the cavity on the left side.
