PS3 not working

Sounds like a power supply issue. Unless it is showing any other colours after the green light. Red would be ylod which means a phone call to Sony. Try a new power supply and see if that fixes it.

you need to change your power box there is a bad connection with the wires. its over heating you might whant to buy another at game stop or take it in to get fixed. the more you messed with it it might mess up your whole system.

Although you say it can't be overheated, it is possible it is a result of overheating. When you get this error it means a general hardware fault. However, the most common fault found is when either the CPU or GPU processors become so hot that the solder devlopes microscopic cracks that do not close when it cools. This means that there is not a good electrical contact and the PS3 fails. So your PS3 may have been working fine the day before but when you turned it off it would of been hot inside. The circuit board and components would of cooled down essentially making the solder joints contract and open up the cracks in them.

There are guides out there to repair YLOD (yellow light of death) which explain step by step how to fix it. Unfortunately it is not a permanent fix and your console could only last hours after doing it.

Usually you will need a replacement PS3. If it is still under warranty give Sony a call who will replace it free of charge.

i have the same problem but to make matters worse mine wont even turn on now but a bunch of people say you have to take it to sony or i dont know if this works but a bunch of people say is does try turning it on or off (i dont know which one) and press the eject and front power button at the same time hope this works tell me if it does

this happens when the ps3 has overheated-try removing the hard drive and replacing then give the console a hoover out.....if this doesnt work try holding the power button on for 5 sec....if this doesnt work its back to sony im affraid

try this:
it works for slimline PS2. might work for PS3.
1) turn off PS3
2) unplug PS3 and wait a minute or two before plugging back in.
3) turn on PS3

I had the same problem before. You have an extremely rare RRod problem. what u du is go to the sony website, and somewhere, and call the number on the screen. ill just tell u it right now. --- 954-345-7669, and tell them what happend.

PS: They will problably ask for u 2 ship it back to the industry, for further repair.

If your having this problem I know how to fix it but only for about 30-45 seconds.
Okay this is what you do.

1.If your ps3 is turned on press the red button , it should turn green then yellow ,beep and blink red.
now do this 3 times without turning it off.

2.Turn your ps3 off.

3.Turn it on while holding the eject button.

4.Now your ps3 should stay on ,(like I said for about 30-45 seconds).Also the fan should be on.But then after a while it turns back off.And that's as far as I got.
