The dryer stopped working for my hwd1000 --

The unit still runs through the drying cycle but never gets hot enough to dry anything. usually, it gets so hot that the door won't unlock until several minutes after it is shut down -- even with no power. but now I can open the door right up since it's not hot (the indicator says hot and door locked but neither is true). i am trying to get an idea what the problem is before I pay someone to come tell me that I can't afford to fix it.

Check your belt. It may be shot. And that will cause your machine to do that. The heat will still work but your clothes will not dry.

SOURCE: My HWD1000 Haier Washer/Dryer combo error EC4

EC4 is regarding: The temperature of air vent.

Within 30 minutes of dry cycle there is 5 minutes in which the temperature is not increasing.

The dryer heater is not working properly. Call a repair technician.

Alternatively, create a custom wash cycle with no dry cycle and hang dry the laundry if you are past warranty and do not want to pay to repair it.

You need to call for repairs. Probably the heating element is faulty.

You can create a custom program without a dry cycle and hang dry your clothing.

solved!!!! theres a flaw in the machine, lint builds up in air return area from the back of the machine to the heater, takes about 45 min to fix, take off lid and back pannel, remove weight, remove heater wires and hoses, remove plastic air return area, clean out lint, put back together, the air temp sensor is in the plasic housing in the rear of the plastic housing, the lint blocks air from circulating and triggers warning

Kenmore Elite HE4 Gas Dryer Shuts off prematurely in the Auto Dry cycle and the Timed dry cycle

Gas Dryer no heat: or shuts down soon after heating CHECK:

Thermal Fuse
If the air flow in the dryer is restricted, the temperature in the heating chamber can get hot enough to blow the thermal fuse. If the fuse blows, it cuts power to the coils that control the gas valve. The fuse is usually mounted to the exhaust duct just inside the back panel. You can check its continuity with an ohmmeter. If, after disconnecting the fuse, you get any reading other than 0 when you touch the leads of the meter to its terminals, it has blown. There's no way to restore it -- you'll have to install a replacement.

Igniter and Gas Valve Coils
TEST with a multi meter: The igniter is an electric conductor that works like the element in an electric heater, glowing hot enough to ignite gas when you turn on the dryer. This conductor can burn out, and when it does, it may glow, but it won't get hot enough to ignite the gas. At times it may give a reading of continuity yet fail mechanically and not get hot enough to ignite flame though it gets hot and glows and even may show Ohms or continuity ( close circuit) ?
Occasionally, the Gas safety valve and the electric coils that control the gas valve are defective -- they can wear out when the dryer gets old. When this happens, the igniter glows, but gas never enters the heating chamber or does not stay consistant.
Performing a continuity test on either part will help you determine whether or not you need to replace it. But the coils should also be tested for amount of resistance as well as Ohms. As they may be showing ohms yet not putting out enough resistance to keep proper gas pressure flowing. Most coils should show at least 1300 ohms ( GIVE OR TAKE 150 OHMS). Anything significantly less Thus u get an ignition but then it soon goes back out. The flame does not stay lit.

Air Flow and Heat
The motor that drives the tumbler also drives a fan that circulates air through the heating chamber and the tumbler and expels it through the vent. If the air can't circulate, perhaps because of lint blockage, the heating chamber overheats, which prompts the cycling thermostat to turn off the gas. The thermostat resets when the chamber cools, but the chamber heats up quickly and the thermostat again shuts off the gas. The result is that the temperature in the tumbler doesn't stay hot, and your clothes take longer to dry, if they get dry at all.

Warning
There's a big difference between a dryer that doesn't heat up at all and one that just doesn't get hot enough to dry your clothes. In the first instance, the problem is usually a defective part, and things should be back to normal after you replace it. In the second instance, the problem is caused by restricted air flow, and you need to clear the lint filter and vents and take steps to prevent lint build-up. If you don't, you'll use more energy for drying than you need and the dryer may continue to malfunction. Worse, you may have a dryer fire.

Dryer does not get hot enough to dry clothes Roper REX4634KQ1 Electric Dryer

The vent may be stopped up, or the vent hose crimped so the air cannot escape, you can check the air flow at the vent on the outside of the house while the dryer is running.
try cleaning the vent and the lint screen with a vacuum cleaner, you may need to replace the vent hose, this should solve the problem

DISWASHER hdw100wht

You could if you wanted a hot wash. You cannot dry without cold water. The dryer cycle requires cold water to draw moisture out of the clothes.

You can create a custom program that has no dry cycle. I usually do the laundry this way and hang dry, however I only have cold water hooked up.

You could get cold from the cold tap by installing a few outdoor hose quick connect parts to the tap if your faucet ends in a screw fitting. You may also need screw on expander for this to work. Go to you local hardware store and tell them you want to get the outdoor hose quick connect parts and an expander to fit on your household tap. Buy metal parts NOT cheapo plastic.

Dryer gets hot when not running

Getting hot when not started is a great concern.
I have a few ideas why, but this is a fire hazard and I would suggest unplugging and either getting help or replacing.
That said, there here are a few suggestions.
1) if the element is shorted to ground, it will get power to one side of the element and heat though ground. This, again, is serious.
2) if it heats forever and doesn't get warm enough to dry, this is another indication of an element that is not working up to power. Not getting 230 across the entire element and not getting hot enough to dry.
3) Many times when a dryer runs too long, the air flow if blocked by the vent being plugged or some plug withing the dryer itself.

Again, I am very concerned about this problem and suggest you not use it until it is repaired. If you want to check the element, it is fairly easy, but unit will need disassembled.

How do you DRY with the Haier washer/dryer

Have you tried lengthening the dryer cycle or running it at a higher temp? The usual culprit for wet clothes is not running a dryer long enough or hot enough. (I remember some stand-alone dryers (coin-operated with a fixed drying time per coin) that needed two cycles to dry stuff.
