My HWD1000 Haier Washer/Dryer combo stops 5 minutes into the drying cycle and displays error EC4. There is only a humming sound when the cycle begins, whereas before there was a sound similar to gears working (hard to explain). I've seen this problem posted but no solutions??!!
EC4 is regarding: The temperature of air vent.
Within 30 minutes of dry cycle there is 5 minutes in which the temperature is not increasing.
The dryer heater is not working properly. Call a repair technician.
Alternatively, create a custom wash cycle with no dry cycle and hang dry the laundry if you are past warranty and do not want to pay to repair it.
The above response is correct octowboy, however, on my machine all i had to do was lay it on its side and it was MUCH easier to access area from the bottom, no need to remove top or back at all NO panel removal.
yes disconnect the small clearish tube from the black rubber attachment and just clean out the lent it is now working normal!
the tube has an elbow and that is where most of the lint gathers.
Thanks for your help octowboy!
During the 5 minutes before the unit turns itself off do you also hear the sound of water swishing inside the unit ? Your unit uses cold water to cause condensation in order to dry your cloths. Make sure that your cold water is turned on to the unit, if you do not hear the sound of water swishing around during the drying period I would check the cold water intake valve that goes to the rear of the unit, not the one that goes into the washer itself. If the unit is getting hot and shutting down it is not the dryer element/resister. The unit should also have a temperature limit switch that control how hot the temperature can get, most look like a silver coin with two connection points. This is a relatively inexpensive part, it is also easy to self test with a continuity meter.

solved!!!! theres a flaw in the machine, lint builds up in air return area from the back of the machine to the heater, takes about 45 min to fix, take off lid and back pannel, remove weight, remove heater wires and hoses, remove plastic air return area, clean out lint, put back together, the air temp sensor is in the plasic housing in the rear of the plastic housing, the lint blocks air from circulating and triggers warning
