Shattered glass window on oven door

The glass just shattered during a clean cycle tonight. What to do?
Are there service bulletins on this problem?
Can we order a new door?

It's a 2001 Kitchen Aid built in electric convection oven.
I can't open the door yet because it's too hot to see the model number
But it's in the family of KEMC307 and 308
KEMC377 and 378
YKEM307 and 308

The first time I used the cleaning cycle of my KITCHEN AID oven (Model KDRP 467KSS07), the inner glass in the oven door shattered.

I called the Kitchen Aid 800# inquiring as to what may have caused this or how to prevent this from happening again. Was told they had never heard of this happening before.

Any info. on this would be helpful.

Same thing has happened to me (first time using the self-clean feature). KitchenAid says it's not under warranty!

Oven glass door shattered on the inside during self clean mode

The glass is replaceable. You need to get the exact glass replacement kit from the manufacturer. I had to have mine replaced about a year ago due to condensation between the 2 glass panels and was able to get the replacement for $0.00.
Suggest to Siemens that the glass on yours should not have shattered and therefore was probably defective and you may luck out and get the glass for free. It's worth a try.

My oven inside glass door exploded tonight while

Very rare, in 35 years I replace maybe 2 to 5 a year out of 1500 to 2000 repairs a year on all major appliances. Make sure you replace it with the exact glass from the manufacturer, usuing your model number. Do not replace with glass from a glass shop.

Frigidaire Self Cleaning Electric Oven - Inner glass shattered, need part and instructions for door

It isn't that tough to change the glass assembly. Most of the Frigidaire have 4 screws that hold the front of the door to the inner part- sandwiching the glass in between. It is only sold as a unit- 2 glass pieces, assembled with an aluminum frame. Call All brands Appliance parts at 508-587-7100 and they'll get the part out to you. (Tell them Greasy Wheels sent ya, they'll take good care of you.) The most common reason the glass breaks, is a scratch in the glass. Sometimes it's just a dragged pan, other times it's from cleaning it with a sharp instrument. Don't do that....

TKC 8522/2 top oven outer door shattering

It is not a fault with the door, and this sort of event occurs quite often, so is not uncommon.
All sorts of things can cause this, sudden change in temp, getting the glass wet whilst it is still hot, a knock or bang form an earlier time could have weakened the glass.
The list is quite long..
Depending on your household insurance, some policys cover for breakage of glass fittings, would be worth checking.

Whirlpool oven door

the rep is right as of yet there is no recalls on this problem and yes they are tempered but in my many travels I hve only seen two do this once you have the glass replaced this will take care of the problem also if you use a oven cleaner that is not made for self cleaning ovens and get even a drop on the glass it will shatter

doubt anything to do with popcorn. glass like that does sometimes shatter probably a stress fracture. quite often happens with oven doors as well
