SOURCE: suction problem

check the intake hose at the bottom it may be clogged.try blowing into the long hose if you can't blow through it then you have a clog somewhere between the long hose and your intake hose at the bottom.the intake hose is the somewhat clear hose that comes up from behind the base at the bottom.you will see it on the backside

SOURCE: dirt devil purpose for pets vacuum quit working

The motor overheats from the filter being clogged underneath the canister or the canister or both are clogged-without the air flow the motor overheats and shuts off as a precautionary measure.By letting the motor cool off it will start again but will turn off shortly if the filters are not properly cleaned.Hope this helps everyone.

Dirt devil easylite 7.2 v does not hold charge. Can you suggest any fix? Thanks

Sorry to say that the batteries seem to be worn out. Usually this is caused by using it for to short a time each time you use it. Batteries develop a 'memory' after several short time uses, and can only be charged the time it 'Thinks' is a full charge. You can try running it until it almost stops. Then let it sit for about an hour turned off, then turn it on again, and run it till it almost stops. After doing that put it on the charger for 8 hours. Then run it until it almost stops again. then charge it again. That process sometimes breaks the memory problem. If not, you need new batteries- or a new dirt devil.

Won't hold a charge

this is a problem that all cordless power tools that have an internal battery in them face eventually , the battery goes bad and without tearing it apart you cant replace them

make sure its the battery went bad , verify that charger is working and charge lite is on

@ in one dirt devil light keeps blinking

Hi! The model number you provided M085845 is a corded vacuum that does not need to be charged. If you have a battery operated product, the indicator light will begin to blink after being plugged in for 12-14 hours or more. Try unplugging the charger for a few minutes. Hope this is helpful. If you still have questions please reach back out to us here of Fixya, Facebook.com/dirtdevil or Twitter @DirtDevil. Thanks!

Dirt devil doesn[t hold charge

Try running the battery all the way down by letting the vacume run in a corner or another room and even when it stops leave it on for a hour to drain the battery. Then shut the switch off and try charging the battery. Make sure the charger is putting out enough volts by looking at the rated output of the charger and while it is plugged in check it with a volt meter. If it does not hold a charge and the charger is putting out the right voltage you need to purchase a new battery for the vacume

Charge doesn't last 2 minutes and what it starts with is weak. the vacuum is 7 years old.

batteries do have a life. its probably reached its end, sad to say. if the battery can be removed, i would attempt to find a replacement.

No Wind Coming Out of Dirt Devil

The suction hole will never have wind coming out of it, it is for suction. To switch from floor to hose, turn the control knob labeled floor / hose.
