SOURCE: Staple Gun Troubleshooting

Most of the staple gun models lack an "anvil" — the metal plate with curved slots that office staplers use to bend the legs of the staple inwards and flattens them against the paper. Staples set with a staple gun retain their straight legs, and are held in place only by static friction of the legs against the compressed surrounding material, much like common nails. Indeed, some staple gun models can handle brads and nails as well as staples. Some staple guns also use divergent point staples where the legs twist as the staple drives into the surface providing superior holding power.

SOURCE: Stanley TR70 Manual Stapler won't accept Arrow 1/4" staples

It sounds like you have a light duty stapler and are trying to use heavy duty staples. 1/4" refers to the length of the legs not the thickness of the actual staple. You probably just need light duty staples.

SOURCE: refilling the staple gun

The staples do not go on the bar you pull back but directly into the bottom once you have pulled the bar back. I was trying to put the staples on the bar at the back and push them into the stapler.

SOURCE: Swingline Stapler Staples Only After You Open It Up....

When you lift up the top of the stapler (as though you are going to put staples in), does the pusher slide freely back and forth? It might be getting stuck at some point and not pushing the staples (either due to a worn pusher spring, or friction). First (after removing the staples) try spraying some light oil on the mechanism and lifting the top part of the stapler up and down a few times and observe how easily it moves back and forth. Also, with the top open try GENTLY sliding back and forth a little - if it slides fine with no sticking, try loading staples and using stapler. If it slides ok, but doesn't quickly return to it's "normal position" when pulled so as to put tension on the spring, rhen the spring may be worn and need replacing.

Jammed Ace Clipper 700 stapler?

It must have a staple jammed in it, remove it as best you can. A small "pocket" screwdriver works to pry them out.

How do you load a ace heavy duty clipper stapler model number 82?

I found some information here:
ACE STAPLE Quality Tradition for Over 50 Years

It takes the Clipper Undulated Heavy Duty 3/8" Staples. On the back of the stapler, there is a loading rod. Remove the loading rod and place a set of staples in the chamber, then re-install the loading rod.

I have an ACE aircraft aluminum stapler... I bought Ace Heavy Duty Staples 3/8" 10mm Narrow Crown Arrow T50 staples but cannot get the arm to load with them on it.

Possibly you are trying to load it from the back with the arm out. This way does not work. With this stapler you must pull the arm out all the way and then drop the staplers in the bottom. Too easy, right? I felt like a dumb a$$ after fighting this one for an hour. By the way, it will take heavy duty staples but you need to match the item codes printed on the side of the stapler with the box at ACE hardware. Hope this helps... Say "yes" to "was this solution helpful?" so I can know that im not the only one who did this wrong :)

Got a black and decker electric stapler given to me but no manual so can't find way to load it. It is a cat. no. 9700 stapler

Look at the back of the staple gun just under the electric cord and you will see a 1/2 loop of spring steel sticking up from the chrome base. Push it down lightly and toward the front of the stapler - when it is all the way forward lift the loop it while in the forward position and while up - draw it back and the will come out of the staple gun.

Problem loading gun..Where do we put in the staples and change the dial to accomodate it? fred

The staples should load in through the end of the hammer stapler. The end is spring loaded to push the staples forward, so push the end - usually a crome square - into the handle end then move that part up approximately 1/4 inch and pull back. The spring mechanism should slide out so you can add new staples. These staplers take a specific size of staple and a certain number to allow you to put the spring mechanism back into the stapler. If you do not know the correct size for your stapler someone at your local hardware store can help you find the correct size and they will probably even show you how to load it. Good luck!
